  1. I am sick of the ESS v8 upgrade nags, my lic. is about to run out, and v8 fails the ESET Live Grid test (it is fully enabled in F5?)- I read that improved EIS replaced ESS, I bought a boxed EIS 3 user lic, How do I go about upgrading to EIS (uninstall ESS, & clean reinstall EIS is OK...). Do I uninstall ESS in Safe mode, using what tool, or...?
  2. First off I didn't like v9, and will wait for bugs to be fixed in v10- I didn't like the "iffy" virus definition updates in v8, and trialed a couple of other IS products on my laptop? They were slow & buggy, and I downloaded a fresh v8/installed. My laptop now shows v8.0.319.0, and my desktop shows v8.0.310.0? Do I need to do something... to bring my desktop to .319, or...?- If so over the top install, or...?
  3. The ESS splash logo always shows on a cold startup, but not always on reboot? Sometimes "e" doesn't appear on the taskbar (only twice)? I've open/closed ESS, and No notifications... I've run ESS scan. I've also run on-demand scans- herdprotect, and MBAM AV/rootkit. All are OK? What would cause this?
  4. On another note- I got tired of having to update buggy FF several times do to Security issues..., After Every new release!- I Upgraded to the faster Chrome based Opera browser (easier user Menu Options, than Chrome), with automatic updates (every few months...)!
  5. 1. I have both an unused 3u ESS2013 & 3u ESS2014 boxed licenses purchased from another vendor- Can I use either of these to upgrade my v8 license that will expire 6/17/2016? 2. If I enter the new code now, will my new code extend from 6/17/2016, or from date entered?- Is there some way to enter the new code to do this "extended", so my protection will be uninterrupted?
6. Yes I mean- how to change a public network to home/office (trusted) network with No file printer sharing (hoping to resolve auto-update issues...?). Where do I find the sharing options?
  7. I would be using either my desktop or my laptop, and get the "Program Modules have been updated message.- I'm wondering if- I was using different versions of ESS .304/V8 & V8/V9, is causing my issues...? Please post the recent records from your ESET Event log so that we get a better picture of how often program components were updated. It shouldn't happen each time you hit Update now within a short time period. It doesn't happen when I hit Update- It happens when I'm working on my other computer, and the Program Modules have been updated box pops up- I uninstalled v9, and plan to go back to v8 (On both)/ set up a no share files/printer network (they were both were Public, with 1 v8, and the other v9). When I figure out Exactly how to do this?
  8. I would be using either my desktop or my laptop, and get the "Program Modules have been updated message.- I'm wondering if- I was using different versions of ESS .304/V8 & V8/V9, is causing my issues...?
  9. Perhaps is "think to work in another way". You surf as usual and when go to "Paypal.com" in your current browser, ESET offers the secure one opened with Paypal. In case the website you want don't open on Secure Browser, you have to add to the list. You use your own "bookmarks". RE:- "In case the website you want don't open on Secure Browser, you have to add to the list. You use your own "bookmarks"." Where is "the list", and the "Secure Paypal"?
  10. I also found my Win7 Pro (32 & 64 bit both) IE11 browser to be Very slow on a cold startup, and this "jumping through hoops" solved it (I'm a Software Tech, and it took me Months to figure this out)- 1. I installed the Faster Opera browser (Chrome based with a Much Better User interface...), and use it for browsing Only. a. I Don't like to download files on Opera (they get stored, and slow it's loading), and use IE11 for downloading files/Banking... 2. On a cold startup I have to wait 35min while (I got a Sharp battery clock at WalMart (Black second hand), and a kitchen timer are a Must, You Should print this Procedure)!)- a. Opening/ closing (in this order After 10min)- -Taskbar Internet icon. -Touch Start menu icon for 6sec, then raise cursor above it for 2.5min. -Open Start Menu for 2min. -Move cursor to right (away from Any icons (Taskbar too)!), and reboot after 5min -Then do the Same thing, and Browsers... will be Fast! Note!- It's not just the ESS firewall, as it is the same with the Win7 firewall (KIS2014 was Much slower/problematic). I have 2 computers on the same Router/with the same User Account, and wonder if this is causing me to have to do this?- You might not to have to do All of this (Experiment..., and Please let me know)? G'day Scott
  11. If you are using v8, I suggest you to move to version 9. That is the latest. That's all my suggestions, cannot answer the Networking part. I posted a new Topic about does V9 protect from Ransomware better than V8, and a Mod. replied that they are the same. I didn't like having to go online to open Help in V9, and Not being able to use Bookmarks in Banking... was a Hassle for me! I had V8 on my desktop, and V9 on my laptop, and wondered if that maybe caused my update issues? I'm going back to V8 on my -I wonder why a Moderator hasn't replied to this Topic yet!?
  12. I tried V9 on my laptop, but it kept updating program modules- Forcing me to re-trust programs. I went back to V8, but am Really concerned about Ransomware! I'll live with my re-trust issues if V9 has better protection?
  13. -My current setup that is causing auto-update & cold startup/restart... problems- I have only 2 Wiin7 computers on a cable Internet router- My desktop, and my backup laptop with the same user account. I am concerned about transferring malware from one infected computer to the other (in the wild...), so both are set to Public (I have No need to share stored files or printer, but Do share IE11, and Opera browser files). My problems are with sporadic auto-updating on Both computers, and not being able to use browsers on Cold startup (I have to wait 30min before starting laptop, and then do reboots on both with another 30min wait!- I changed Internet from Dial-up to always-on (check for updates hourly), set rules to Trust IP addresses Both ways, but this didn't help? I'm thinking that Networking may help solve my problems (can always set laptop to Public, if I'm on a trip), but don't want to risk sharing malware... (the whole idea of a backup computer). How can I set up Networking to maybe solve my problems, but minimize my sharing malware? Any other suggestions?
  14. I looked in Rules and Zones > Setup... > New, but could Not find the IP addtresses... to choose from? In View Network I have An IPv4, and an IPv6 IP address, but could Not find them in New to choose from?- 1. Am I loking in the wrong place? 2, When I do find them do I want to allow IPv4, or IPv6, or both?
  15. I gave up on FF as it was too buggy (fix after fix on Every new version, and my ESET/Kaspersky AV's blocked it from...!), and went to faster Opera (Chrome based with a Much easier Control Pannel...) as my 2nd browser- Even so, some sites will only work with IE (go figure?).....
  16. "Exactly" how do I create a Permitting Rule for IP addresses...Without upgrading to v9 (I want to wait awhile...)? I tried looking in Help, but couldn't find it?
  17. As I stated above, both networks were always marked as Public/Automatic, and yes services probably use a cloud server. After I reboot, I can see the ESS icon... blipping while I startup, and it appears that the other... computer has to be retrusted again. Is there a setting that allows both computers to be Always trusted?
  18. My problem is with ESS allowing my browsers (IE11/Opera) to share info... without restarting computer A, then B (same user), and waiting 30min in between- Both computers are Win7, with FW set to Public/Automatic, and no other active security software. My old Slow Security AV had a setting to completely Trust both non-networked computers, that resolved this same browser issue- Is there such a setting in ESS, or ...?
  19. I checked App Mod Detection, and found this- ApplicatiomMidify.JPG 1. Should I Remove the 3 Programs in the box, and OK..., as ESS is still Slow getting browsers... Trusted (open/close 4 times)? 2. Maybe I'm not Trusting properly..., as after the next days cold startup. I have to Trust all over again...?- Especially after Win7 manual updates/Java/Adobe Flash Player/sandboxie/...!? Is it necessary to open Every module of updated programs (CCleaner/MS Word 2003/...? Something definitely is not right with your Eset installation. I have never received any alert from Eset SS 8 about trusting anything. Win Updates install without issue and so do other app updates. You definitely should not be getting trust alerts about IE at every startup after boot. That is unless something is indeed modifying IE and your other apps? I see you are running Zemana's Antilogger - free version. You running any other security software? Thought I saw a ref. to Sandboxie? You should exclude any other security software from Eset's real-time scanning at the minimum. Also post a screen shot of the alert from Eset you are receiving when you receive this "trust" alert. Also have you checked your logs to see if anything is recorded there? If so, please post a screen shot of the entries there. Do you have Eset's firewall set to "automatic" filtering mode and selected profile to "no profile?" Finally, you should uninstall any other security like software before installing Eset. If worse comes to worse, you will have to do that and then reinstall Eset. I have also seen mixed reviews on VIT Registry Fix. If you have run it after installing Eset, it may have very well "borked" part of your Eset installation settings in the registry. I have since uninstalled Zemana Antilogger as it played havoc with Windows Update changes..., but it was active when ESS was installed/online updated (both computers)- I will reinstall ESS later...- Any Special uninstall/install instructions? I have Never run VIT Registry Fix on Win7, as I'm scared by Any Reg cleaner (except CCleaner), and will stay away from it.... If you are using the "full" paid ver. of Zemana anti-logger, it does do real-time monitoring of app. changes. The free ver. does not do that. I stop using it because I don't trust Zemana. Windows uninstaller is usually adequate for Eset. Just install and leave default settings alone until there are no further "trust" issue that you spoke of. -Sounds good on the uninstall/reinstall, I won't import old settings..., and leave Default settings. -BTW?- I also had/have LastPass free Password Manager installed (security software of sorts...), and ESS is Slow to allow changes/updates- Should I also uninstall this, Before ESS reinstall? LastPass shouldn't affect Eset install as far as I am aware of. Note: The fact you were also having WIN update issues with Zemana AL leads me to believe you might have file permissions of some type of Group Policy issues. Did you ever set up Group Policy rules in WIN for file access, updating, or the like? You should have never received errors from Zemana AL about WIN updates; especially using the free version. Leads me to believe your issues might lie at the OS level. - I never set any rules in WIN update, other than notify me before download- Should I set rules? - Zemana AL blocks changes to some Win files..., and I feel that this was the problem?- I never received any ZAL errors, but had to keep reinstalling the same Win updates over-and-over until I uninstalled it. - I feel that you are correct about my OS maybe being corrupted?- Being that I have to uninstall ESS, that would be a good time to do a system Repair Install (A Much Faster Upgrade Reinstall..., from Seven forums). hxxp://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html
