  1. I thought about that, but first, if that was the case you'd think all versions of ESET NOD32 would potentially have problems. Going from version 7.0.302 backwards everything runs fines. Its only after trying any version after 7.0.302 that I have an issue. Second, I'm not having any other kinds of issues with my computer in any way. If there was an issue with video card drivers, you'd think that there might be some issues elsewhere in other software. Seems like some of the mods (Marcos for one) acknowledge that they're aware of the issue and that I'm not the only one. But thanks for the thoughts
  2. Have tried all of that......thanks for suggesting just in case though. I've even gone thru the registry after doing what you suggested looking for any residual entries. I don't know if its a windows 7 64 bit issue, which is what I'm running. Everything after version 7.0.302 gives me the problem I'm describing. i can always uninstaller newer versions and go back to v7.0.302 and then the computer scan option works just fine. Weird isn't it? Been running ESS since its launch and have never had this problem with any version. I'm running Win7 X64 as well so its not an issue that's OS specific. Do you have any other antivirus/spyware/malware app that's running in the background ? I have Malwarebytes Anti-Malware installed but not running (confirmed by reviewing active processes in task manger, reviewing what starts with boot-up and plus when I occasionally run it, it asks me if I wish to change settings to active running). I have always had it installed but not active to use for the occasional malware check. That being said, it's still there when I have version 7.0.302 installed and no issues.
  3. Every time there is some type of slow down or freezing. Sometimes it will open into the window after clicking computer scan, but when I go to select an action within that category, it will freeze up and appears to not be doing anything. Eventually I have to use task manager several times to finally close the software because trying to "x" out of the program or out of "computer scan" will not do anything. Again, if I uninstall and go back to version "version 7.0.302" no issues at all. I am now using version 7.0.302 and I'm fine With every program update since version 7.0.302, I tried each one and have had the same freezing/slow down issues. Each time I go back to version 7.0.302 and all is good
  4. I thought so too, but given what Marcos was saying I thought possibly I was wrong in thinking that

  6. OK....my mistake, I thought it was said it would be fixed by version 8.....which has come out already. So, good news....thank you SweX for clarifying that the issue will be fixed after the next version after 8.0.304.1

  8. I'm afraid after many years of being a very happy/satisfied ESET NOD32 user, it may be time for a change if the newer software can't be used on my standard operating system This topic you posted: Also have a look at this topic: ESET SS8 Freeze seems to have others like me still having the isue in version 8 still
  9. I continue to have this very same issue from versions that came after v7.0.302. Everything seems to work fine......except when I try to choose the option "Computer Scan" from the left panel. It freezes and it stays frozen. I haven't started a scan, nor has the software started one on it's own. Once the "freeze" happens I have to use the task manager to shut down the software.....even then it takes a few attempts before it finally closes. I have just tried to install v8.0.304.1 with a clean install (completely uninstalled and checked registry to remove any traces before clean install......no luck with the latest v8.0.304.1, still freezes. As soon as I go back to v7.0.302, all works fine. So.....what gives? Will I need to change antivirus programs? I'm using windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. No external hard drive connected either
  10. I'm back to back to v7.0.302...........no problems at all! What gives????????? If this can't be solved, do I need to migrate to a new antivirus program?
  11. So here is my original post within this topic: I'm on windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit system with all updates from microsoft. no issues with v7.0.302 but have the issue described here in v7.0.317. have uninstalled, rebooted and fresh install......same problems with computer scan button. have to use task manager to close NOD32 software. Uninstalled the v7.0.317 and go back to v7.0.302 and no problem with freezing." I stayed with v7.0.302 until the new version 8 arrived. I completely uninstalled the version 7 I had (v7.0.302) and did a fresh install of v8.0.304.1 and I still have a "freeze-up" of the software when I try to access the computer scan interface. In fact I have to go into task manger to finally force a shut down of the software. So..........did anyone get a solution to this issue? I don't have an external hard drive connected to the system either
  12. Most probably the outcome is that this is a bug since it happens on different platforms - you're in Win 7 and I'm on Win 8 (as stated in my thread about the interface glitch). OK....thx for info. Anything I can do or just use the older version? Yes you can use the previous version until this GUI "glitch" is fixed if you want . I haven't upgraded to .317 myself yet because I haven't experienced any of the problems that were fixed in the latest version. OK.....great.......thx for the info!

OK....thx for info. Anything I can do or just use the older version? Curious that others using my platform (windows 7 64 bit) haven't come forward to speak of the issue too
  14. So what is the outcome of this topic please? I'm now having issues myself with current version (7.0.317) and computer scan button freeezing up the software. I'm on windows 7 64 bit with all microsoft updates in place. No problems with any previous versions and can go back to v7.0.302 and all is fine. I've uninstalled v7.0.317, rebooted and done fresh install.....no luck

  16. Hello and welcome, Some users seem to have this problem. See this thread: https://forum.eset.com/topic/2612-small-interface-glitch/ Thank you for the link and welcome. I'll check out the other topic
  17. I've been using v7.0.302 on windows 7 64 bit system with all microsoft updates installed. When I upgraded to v7.0.317.4 install went without issue and appears to function....except when I decide to do a scan of my system thru computer scan option. Then software freezes up and eventually I have to use the task manager to manually close. I have uninstalled ESET NOD32 Antivirus v7.0.317.4 and then done a fresh install after rebooting....still same result. But, when I uninstall and go back to v7.0.302, I have no issues and can do a computer scan thru the "computer scan" button and all goes fine. So....can anyone explain or help me with the issue? thx
