  1. I love XP but remember this - Windows is no longer going to support XP. I had a problem with Windows 7, ended up actually talking to a tech at Microsoft. We got into a discussion where I told him I didn't like 7 - well, he doesn't like it either. In fact, he keeps XP on his own home computers and won't upgrade. He has the advantage - he knows how to fix it lol.... Keep XP and pretty soon, you'll be on your own. 7 still stinks and I can only imagine how bad 8 is. Good luck !!!
  2. My computer guy installed both Malwarebytes and Eset NOD 3 yrs. ago. I've never had a problem. The ESET license was in his name so when it expired recently, I deleted it and installed the trial version of NOD so I would have some control. First few days was fine although the trial doesn't have all the features (which I get). Next thing I know, I have registry problems. I'm not a programmer, just a user. Took me 2 days to figure out how to find/fix the registry (I ended up doing a restore). Now I've been back & forth with ESET who kept misreading my messages. Finally they got it - Device driver software was not successfully installed. They sent me 3 pages of instructions which I need to print in order to do whatever it is they want done. It's says it's 'printable'. Well, it's not 'printable'. I've used my printer all week - documents, e-mails, coupons, etc. with no problem. My printer says Eset is printing - it's not. It's the only thing that won't print and tells me it's something to do with the printer. If that's the case, how come I can print everything else? I also re-ran the disk that came with the printer. It's fine. I read the directions via their link to this error msg. - it says to check Windows Update. Windows has nothing to do with it. I have it set on automatic update BUT I also go in and check Windows update daily for any updates. Again, I've never had a problem with running both but I have a gut feeling that my computer is now totally screwed up. Question - I want to give this one more shot - the computer guy will charge me more than I can afford. Can I uninstall ESET Trial and try to reinstall it again?? I have 18 days left on the trial - I don't expect ESET to give me more days. I've purchased Malwarebytes and won't be getting rid of it. I've been up until 3 AM for 4 days trying to fix this. I'm really tired - I can operate a computer but in order to install a lousy anti-virus, I'd need a PH.d. I have plenty of other question too but need to address this problem first. Thanks.
