  1. Thanks @planet. And what do you say about this @ESET?
  2. Normally the emails should be scanned through the protocol filtering. But as you said there are sometimes some alerts on the on-demand-scan, but not on the protocol filtering, so maybe there is an issue. (or that is just the thing that corrupts the emails - a false positive?)
  3. @Arakasi Yeah you're right in the settings only stands it blocks TCP overload. I overlooked it. So maybe it is really not implemented.
  4. Yes, normally (D)DOS attacks should be detected by ESS This is the setting: . Can you provide more details about which attack you performed?
  5. Because this topic has recently stridden 2000 views a small addition: ESET Germany seems to like high-quality pictures. They published the picture of the box of ESS 8 and NOD32 8 in a very high resolution. Great! I will keep you informed if I find the English versions of these boxes in such a high resolution. Edit: There is also a picture of the box of ECSP, but unfortunately it is not available in such a high resolution.
  6. hxxp://www.eset.com/int/about/press/articles/article/deloitte-technology-fast-50-eset-ranks-among-fastest-growing-big-tech-companies-in-central-europe-for-more-than-a-decade/ Congratulation, ESET! According to this, have a look at this: ESET: 25th Anniversary Video
  7. @hqsec I have added your question/idea/suggestion/whatever to my profile, because I really like it. Have a nice day!
  8. ** UNSOLVED ** Bad news: I have seen this again on a computer with ESS version 8.0.301.3... I'm going to ask the developers of the software tool whether they can reproduce the problem too. I will keep you up to date!
  9. @RNFolsom Long text and many numbers... Often there are users that give less information, but sometimes some even give too much information. That's not bad, but it can be a bit... well... difficult. So what are the problems exactly? Could you make a small list?
  10. Ok, so no cross-platform-protection. This could explain it all, but no sentence with no "but". But I tested the PotentiallyUnwanted.exe from AMTSO and it has been detected by EMS. Here is the proof: @FleischmannTV Sorry for hijacking your topic. Now I now I had better open a new topic for that, but maybe a moderator can split this into a new topic.
  11. Are there any bug fixes in the new version? E.g. the fix for that: ESS GUI (egui.exe) Freezes At Tab Scan Computer Marcos said it would be fixed in the versions 8.0.305 and 7.0.326. But the actual versions are 8.0.304 and 7.0.325. So are we still 0.0.001 versions from the fix away? *cry*
  12. Should I open a new topic about that? I thought it isn't worth it, but if I don't get any answer here, I'll open a new topic - no matter.
  13. I think many users would like to know this - it's not that I wouldn't trust you, ESET, but maybe some other users could ask or even complain about the fact that EAR needs location access.
  14. I haven't heard an official answer, but I take it as I assumed and Arakasi said: No, only WLAN. So, ESET, for you: Take this as a suggestion. For an Anti-Theft-Feature it is quite necessarily to have the best possible location. And if you can use GPS then you even ought to use it!
  15. That's not safe at all. If you exclude a browser from protocol filtering, access to websites with dangerous content won't be blocked, files downloaded via http/https won't be scanned and cloud block won't work either. Does disabling only web protection make the issue go away? What are the hardware specifications of your computer? Yes, my question was only to troubleshoot the problem. Of course you have to include your browser into protocol filtering after it.
  16. @MaXimus Yes, why shouldn't they work? The system of sylar2511 maybe had - like he said - some system problems, but maybe something else. It seems not to be a problem of NOD32, but of something else.
  17. In the screenshot-pack 1 you log all scanned objects. Has this a reason? And from which module are the ThreatSense-settings in your second screenshot-pack?
  18. Ehm... no. At first you should try to find out how you access your mails. Only if you access them through POPS/IMAPS then it makes sense to enable SSL scanning at all. You should find this in the thunderbird settings. And what exactly have you selected? If you selected "Always scan SSL protocol" there shouldn't be any prompts at al. BTW you can reset the certificate settings somewhere under SSL settings.
  19. You can even attach the picture itself. Click on "Full editor" or "More Reply Option" and there you'll find the upload part.
  20. OK, but it isn't a good solution to have that bad interface now... Here is what it may look: Please reenable the graphical user interface and provide us with the following information: Does it always have 50% CPU usage or only sometimes? If sometimes on what actions does it happen? What VSD version do you use? Try to restart your computer. Does it happen again? Create a dump file of egui.exe and maybe also of ekrn.exe and PM it to a moderator. If you want to tray a temporary solution downgrade to v7 and look if the issue even happens there. (but only do this after you did the other steps) @MaXimus That is an issue. Of course this isn't normal. ESET NOD32 8 normally uses nearly 0% CPU usage if you aren't running a scan.
