hxxp://securityaffairs.co/wordpress/29589/cyber-crime/tor-exit-node-serves-malware.html Isn't this a good argument for a HTTPS connection for all (binary) files that were downloaded from ESET?

Hello!
rugk replied to alexander14's topic in ESET Internet Security & ESET Smart Security Premium & ESET Security Ultimate
About SysRescue: I don't know if Russian is supported in the Windows based version, but normally the windows-based version is localized. If you mean ESET SysRescue Live there will be added more languages in the next service release. About "1 PC/3 years" I think you have to contact the Russian distributor directly. BTW Quite funny that there is a ESET NOD32 Smart Security in Russia. They seem to add NOD32 to any ESET product. -
Hello, Janus. You seem to be quite famous. I just like to say that there was another person too, who gave a little (small) feedback recently. And back to topic: Nice questions. I'm looking forward to hear the answers from ESET.

How does ESET keep track of who's using the license?
rugk replied to Super_Spartan's topic in ESET NOD32 Antivirus
Anyway a kind of "Online license managment" would be nice. See this topic: Delete Eset Licences From A Device Or Move It To Another Device / Online License Managment -
I think the text describes quite good what to do: So you could check the box "do not ask me again" and click "stop blocking". AFAIK this would exclude the IP. However I recommend you to go on with troubleshooting this, because it seems to be a new problem with v8. Maybe you can tell us what the server is exactly doing (with your computer) what could cause this issue.

Yeah that's really not "nice" behaviour. A good free alternative (for the burning part) is ImgBurn. Although... hxxp://www.ghacks.net/2010/03/17/dvd-burning-software-imgburn-updated-turns-adware/ However I find the software itself quite good.

And what does the built-in SysInspector show when you try to load the file?
-
Okay, I again tested it while updating the VSD. And yes this maybe something different than the constant high RAM usage of some other users here. ESS 8.0.304 IPM 1158B At first I reactivated pre-release updates. Already here the RAM usage got up to 200 MB. But not while downloading the updates, but at installing them. Then I did a rollback and the RAM usage gets up again. And again while updating the pre-release updates (or better while installing them) the memory usage goes up.

Yes, SweX! You're completely right. I tested it right now and yes it goes to softonic. Before that it says "powered by softonic" and then it tries to download it from softonic. Additionally it requires an e-mail-address.

Yeah, okay. A hide function would be enough.

New version claims my license would be expired
rugk replied to rugk's topic in ESET Products for Mobile Devices
Another issue: When it isn't activated and I tap on buy, but after this press the back button - I come back, but in the notifications the ESET icon isn't warning anymore and the big message is then "maximum protection" instead of "activate premium" (or something similar).- 13 replies

After upgrading to the new version (v 3.0.1173.0) EMS tells me my license would be expired, when I'm tapping on "license" in the menu. After this the premium features were deactivated. See this screenshot: In fact I'm using a not-expired multi-device-license. I can reactivate my license by entering the license data again, but every time I tap on "license" it will check my license and tell me it would be expired.

In other cases? Some people would now think "yes a small submission to the NSA"... The idea you said now could also be useful, but why don't delete really old entries. E.g. a month or even older things. When the theft or whatever is resolved who needs this anymore?
-
Ehm I don't now exactly where you can find it in Windows 10 but you should be able to find the shortcut to your eset product. You can even try to type in egui.exe. Or you have to look for the file on your hard disk. "New" only because it's new (or "reborn") in Windows 10.
-
What you have to repair in this case is just to uninstall the programs. There is a difference between malware and PUA. Have you ever removed a cryptolocker from a system?
-
Maybe this is another incompatibility. When you change the settings you should be prompted by the UAC for the admin right. Try closing egui.exe with holding shift and clicking on the close icon. Then type in ESET into the (new ) start menu and right-click on the ESET Smart security entry. Select run as administrator and finally try to change your settings again. This would be a possibility to give egui.exe admin rights. But under normal conditions you shouldn't run egui.exe as an admin.

Again it's a PUA and not a virus. If you want to know more look here: What is a potentially unwanted application? Maybe I will test it later.

Eset Beta Phase(S) (But Not Of The Security Suites)
rugk replied to rugk's topic in General Discussion
And what's about the AR beta?
