  1. @Arakasi But I think there is a problem with this - the software must already be installed (and I don't think that this is the case in his situation), because you have to select the application. However you can of course create a firewall rule to block the spotify servers (for all programs), but you have to discover first what servers this are.
  2. Thanks for this general information. And I think it's quite easy to answer my specific question... So is Windows NT e.g. (or Windows 2000 as another example) still supported in ESS v8 and NOD32 v8?
  3. So the problem is solved. Great! (@waledakmal You can mark this topic as solved)
  4. Okay, as you know normal users can't see which country another user has selected. So I didn't knew this. BTW @r2du-soft What is the reasons why you don't want to upgrade to v8? And if you really want to stay with v7 you could at least upgrade to the latest v7 release. There were (also) some bug fixes in it.
  5. You can't disable this button as it in the home version of ESS. However if someone who has no admin rights pushes this button, he won't be able to install the new version, but he will get a notification about the newest version. Another thing you can try is this: Set the "Program component update" to "Never update program components" and disable (like already said) the option "Regularly check for latest product version". But generally: When you're running a company, I would suggest you to use the business solutions from ESET. They are not only cheaper (for more computer), but you also get an ESET Remote Administrator (ERA) where you can manage all the settings of your clients from one computer. I assume there are more ways to disable the product update (button).
  6. Okay I found some information. However it would still be nice if someone could answer my other questions: This information are about the support of Windows XP generally. from the ESET Knowledgebase: Microsoft Windows XP end of support and ESET products But what about older OS versions? Are/will these (be) supported?
  7. Could you please link to these reports? In the kb article it shows that ESET NOD32 for Linux is compatible to: However the kb article could be a bit out-date and maybe NOD32 for Linux also supports other Ubuntu versions. The best thing I would suggest is just to test it. You or the customer can download a 30-days trail for free and test it out. If it works it is glad ( - and great of course too). If not you can of course post the issues in this forum and we will try to help you or at least say that this version of Ubuntu isn't supported.
  8. So is your problem solved? FYI: NETBIOS is an API (sometimes also called as a protocol) that is (also) used for the Windows network sharing. explains the Wikipedia article However there are of course used other protocols (which sometimes depend on this API) for sharing a resource too.
  9. In any case I would suggest you to upgrade to the latest version of ESS. Please make sure you have set the sharing setting to "home network". You can see and change setting under "Setup → Network → Change the protection mode of your computer in this network" or in the advanced settings. Then you should see the protection mode:
  10. This kb article describes what to do to activate the automatic product updates. Of course you have to do the contrary thing to disable the updates: How do I configure ESET Smart Security or ESET NOD32 Antivirus to regularly check for the latest product version?
  11. Here are more detailed instructions how to activate ESET Anti-Theft in ESS: Activate and configure Anti-Theft protection in ESET Smart Security
  12. Ping uses the ICMP protocol for the connection check. But you have selected to block the protocols "TCP & UDP", so you have to select ICMP to block a "normal" IPv4 address or IPv6-ICMP to block an IPv6 IP address.
  13. Any news about it? Is this intended or is this an "issue"?
  14. After a quite long time I updated my ESET theme again. It contains now 52 wallpapers! Including this one: (download link) But this is a "special one"! It was created by ESET, because ESET has won the performance test from AV-comparatives (october 2014)! If you'd like to get more information have a look at this topic: ESET Smart Security 8 wins Performance Test of AV Comparatives! Download the Windows theme or single wallpapers Edit: Changed Mega download link to new site used.
  15. I just got out that visitors (unregistered users) can't download the attachments (e.g. screenshots or other pictures) that are attached in posts in this forum. The picture isn't displayed in the preview and if users click on the link they will see a page "You don't have permission for that!". What's it? Is it really intended? For testing I attached a small picture here...
  16. And here a new Wallpaper from ESET to celebrate this success. "Catch us if you can..." Download in full resolution Related: More ESET Wallpapers
  17. Yes you're right! That's surely the reason. How could I forget this? So: case closed! Just as a general information for future visitors: You can also disable this at anti-theft.eset.com, so if you don't like that it's not a problem.
  18. Here a screenshot which shows the window you should see. Because you already created an account you have to enter your account data on the right to login.
  19. If this would be causing the issue maybe you could also reset the positions of the windows with this option in the context menu of the tray icon: However if this doesn't help please do the uninstallation in safe mode (like already suggested) and reinstall the software. And please tell us what operation system and what ESET product you use.
  20. Please try it again with the learning mode. Close the game, activate learning mode, start the game and play some multiplayer sessions, close the game, and reactivate your firewall mode you like to use. Then try to play the online player again and tell us about the results.
  21. @SweX Yes I know. That's why he should test it with the eicar file. But this said he about his tests: So he should submit this false-positive if it's really such a one. With the rest I agree to a you. What OS/ESET version do you have? And please do the tests SweX linked to and tell us the result.
  22. ... and that's not a "normal" detection. @guarana If you think this is the same or a similar malware. Or the same malware "family" please submit the samples to ESET.
