  1. It's also very strange that the eicar test file is... well... nothing? (if it would be unknown it would be an orange triangle)
  2. 1 And have you heard something from the support? And just a stupid test: Have you tested it with a ESET SysRescue Live CD/DVD? Because the error message you get is not about mounting a drive of the installed OS, but of the SysRescue drive. Maybe also a recreation of the SysRescue drive can help.
  3. @SweX I see, ... Then he can memorize it for the next time he uses an ESET product.
  4. @planet Personally I think the bug you mentioned is only a graphical bug in ECS and the bug reported by the TS is a "deeper" one. However I could be fully wrong of course. @Mohimen Can you please post (not-clickable) links to some of the malious files (I recommend to pack them into a passwort-protected archive), so we can reproduce the issue. Have you also find malious files which are marked with a red triangle in ESET LiveGrid?
  5. Yeah... great finding. And this are not the onliest companies. https://www.google.com/search?q=adi+Reputation+and+Compliance+Team
  6. @MaXimus The kb article you linked to has really nothing to do with ESET NOD32 Antivirus (a home user product), because it's about ESET Remote Administrator (a business product). Additionally next time please "clear" the link address, so we don't get this information that you rated the kb article. In this case this would be the best link: hxxp://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN82
  7. With a small trick it is possible to have a Firewall on Android without root access. This trick is quite simple. On Android 4.0 or higher you can built a VPN connection, which redirects all network traffic though an application which "simulates" this VPN. Then it can filter this traffic. This way many features ESET has in ESS e.g. are possible, like: firewall application-independent phishing protection application-independent web protection/protocol filtering So if ESET could implement this in EMS the app would be even more powerful. And it works - you can see this e.g. at this app: NoRoot Firewall
  8. Normally the blocking should be work in any browser/any applications, because it's browser-independent. So what OS are you using and what version of Internet Explorer? Related: How do I block a website using ESET Smart Security or ESET NOD32 Antivirus?
  9. Welcome to 2015 and to ESET, @Sonoran Desert! And thanks for the kind words - it's nice to hear that and I can fully agree to the things you said. And as you have used v3 before you may find many new features in the v8. So have a malware-free year and enjoy safer technology with ESET in 2015!
  10. What version of ESET NOD32 are you using? That's not true. You can exclude a whole drive if you want (although I really don't recommend you to do so). And that's wrong too. You can exclude a special file type from scanning - just exclude (for example) "*.vhd" and "*.vhdx". More information about exclusions you can find here: How do I exclude files or folders from scanning in ESET Smart Security or ESET NOD32 Antivirus? And because of your double post I'm not quite sure what ESET product you use. Do you use ESET NOD32 or ESET File or Mail Security? But about you issue: I wouldn't recommend to exclude any files from scanning and also I would recommend to select the setting to "scan all file types". Maybe someone with Windows Server 2012 can reproduce the issue and help you with troubleshooting it.
  11. Happy new year and enjoy safer technology in 2015 with ESET too!
  12. Well... I didn't knew about Backblaze before but I couldn't find any information what Backblaze has to do with Norton. Blackbase is (according to the Wikipedia article) developed by Backblaze Inc... So what has Backbaze to do with Norton?
  13. Yes, but I also saw (and see) EAV-XXXXXXXXXX licenses which are used as a trail license. What license you get when activating the trail version of an ESET product mostly depends on the country where you activate the license and maybe also on the product you activate.
  14. 550 MB isn't so much. Try mega.co.nz - there it will also automatically encrypted. Or en.file-upload.net - it allows up to 800MB. Or ask Marcos for access to the FTP server from ESET. So you have the choise.
  15. ... and how much RAM has your computer? OK I see a number in the title... 11840 - do you mean MB, KB or what else? MB would be immense high (11 GB) and KB would be immense low (11 MB) so maybe you forgot a number... Just as an orientation ekrn.exe normally uses ~100-120 MB.
  16. Well if you mean with "secure website" the official website, because otherwise "secure website" is a very relative term, then yes (if I cross this different out). E.g. the site/connection (see DNS) could be faked, so it isn't the official site but a faked one. when downloading the file over a not-secured connection it could be modified, so you get a different file. and of course also the official site could be infected/hacked. So just don't disable ESET NOD32 and if it detects something don't ignore this warning, but research about the detection. Additionally you should now the differences between the threats, especially the difference between a "normal" threat and a PUA. Edit: Changed the text because of a small mistake : Of course not "you could be faked", but the "site could be faked"...
  17. ESET with HIPS disabled, because Windows defender just don't has something like HIPS or any other advanced protection technology. And the BSOD occur even with enabled pre-release updates?
  18. So the screenshot you took is from the flash drive? But you can access the "folder"? So the first thing I would do is to run the following CMD command so it will show all hidden files: attrib -SH I: /S /D where "I:" is the drive letter of the drive. And BTW it is a normal folder and not a shortcut according to the screenshot you posted.
  19. Yes if you select this setting, have GPS activated and your battery power is less than 15% then of course it drains the battery - but before you activate such a setting you should of course be aware of it. And yes you can change this setting from my.eset.com, but AFAIK it is deactivated by default. I was talking about a normal usage, but you're of course right - in this special case it drains the battery.
  20. Actually v6 of the business products have been released in North America. It will be released in the first quarter of 2015 worldwide (including Germany of course). More information you can find in this topic: The next generation of the business products from ESET (6)
  21. And you haven't modified the VSD update task? Maybe a workaround could be to modify this task so that it e.g. will try to update every 20 minutes. However your assumption could be right: Maybe you have a similar issue like the one discussed some time ago in another thread: Delay Update Attempt? There are also useful instructions how to test this, so maybe you should follow the instructions for the "ping test" from @Aryeh Goretsky to find out whether your assumption is true.
  22. Normally you can find this memory dump under C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP (see the last step of this kb article). Normally the real-time-protection is activated automatically. Also in "media to scan" all checkboxes should be activated. And what VSD version do you have? Or just post a screenshot of the update window.
