  1. so it's by design. thanks. any plans to change that behaviour? completely removing the product in order to repair (if the repair option from the uninstaller/control panel doesn't help) it is somewhat of time consuming. @itman after the auto-update i had the same options as your image and from my test by removing/reinstalling it, the "repair" button was returned by doing a complete removal using the safe mode uninstaller. and your MSI log entry perhaps is incorrect, mine reports the correct version. i cleared all temp files and started the uninstall just for the window to appear and then i closed it. it reported the correct version.
  2. i downloaded and installed v14.1. everything went fine. after running the installer again i noticed that the option to repair the installation doesn't exist, it never existed even on v13 and the previous v14 release. is it by design that the installer doesn't have that option and i must perform the repair from the control panel > add/remove programs? my local support insisted that this option does exist. https://youtu.be/3Y44Q7xY5Z0
  3. if the link you mentioned is correct, visiting it returns "server not found" error. if the site was taken down a long time ago, means no webpage exists that could potentially infect a computer.
  4. btw with zoom i've always had problem using my headset and nobody could listen to me. although the headset was working fine in other apps, zoom couldn;t transmit my voice. so it might be a problem with zoom itself
  5. no problems at all. whenever i opened zoom, i allowed access to the camera and everything was working fine. i've set EIS to always ask me about camera access.
  6. what do you mean with this statement? Eset doesn't hack people if that's what you mean. if your internet/email provider was hacked, that has to do with their own security programs and protection tactics. having an AV installed on your pc can protect your pc/files only, not your internet provider.
  7. i don't think MichalJ was being suspicious, maybe curious as to why need a picture when you could have installed the program. as for the images in the help pages, even most of the pages for EIS don't have images. i suppose it all comes down to if there is a real need for images on all pages. as for this statement, people buy a product for the level of protection it offers, not if it looks pretty or not. personally i liked the UI of v8 and older but i don't mind the new makeover. i bought it for it's protection.
  8. startup scan occurs when the program downloads new definition updates. do you mean that you see the scan is happening all day every day or when the program has downloaded updates?
  9. do you by any chance mean "parental control" for tablets? if so, eset for android has parental control features https://www.eset.com/us/home/parental-control-android/
  10. eset detects it as win32/adware.opensupdater.hb https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/7dda7bfde43ef155be32f035d827a3b983bec591b6c1524c2d2a763e39ab5181/detection so it seems the application is not so innocent
  11. i return to my post. for the last 2-3 weeks, whenever i click an image from a post, it opens it in the whole tab as if i clicked "open link in new tab". Edge opens it in a floating state with an X to close the image viewer. i've cleared the FF history recently. as it seems, that bug returned. https://youtu.be/evtRhmDemvo
  12. i downloaded an iso and decompressed it as well, i didn't get any notifications. it could be a false positive
  13. can you give the website to check it as well? when pasting the link, instead of https write hxxps
  14. today is the first time i've seen ekrn at around 60mb. ever since september when i bought the product it has been steadily at 200mb (some times above or below). 200+- is my everyday normal. i started a quick scan and ended it after a couple of minutes, the memory upped to 80-90+ and had stayed there for more than 10-15 minutes. i strongly believe there's a memory leak here and it's so random the devs have difficulty finding it.
  15. uninstalling using the removal tool as suggested by Marcos, ensures that all files will get removed. this includes old registry keys and files like the above mentioned driver. i'd suggest to remove it using the tool to be sure that nothing from old installations will remain.
  16. i have an AMD cpu. however i kinda doubt that the program would behave so differently between AMD and Intel
  17. no. your pc is fine. hiberfil and pagefile are integral files of the Windows OS and they are in use constantly as long as the pc is running.
  18. i'd suggest those affected by that issue to use the feedback hub app in windows 10 to report it and send logs as requested by the app so the MS dev team can fix it.
  19. you can right click the eset icon in the notification area and select "pause protection" then when the window opens select "pause until reboot", it's not possible to pause the protection for 1 day and generally it's not recommended to pause it at all. what kind of issues does eset report with the Pearson software?
  20. Marcos will verify that after checking it, but if you didn't buy the key from a legitimate source, it may have been resold to countless other users and eset blacklisted it. that's usually why many users write about it here, you'll find many posts. if the key is legitimate and it serves it's purpose as indented, then further info will be required by the dev team.
  21. nothing out of the ordinary there. see the available support options in the link below, upload the file to a secure location and follow the instructions in the category "Submit a suspicious file / potential false positive file for analysis via email" and send them the link https://support.eset.com/en/kb141-submit-a-virus-website-or-potential-false-positive-sample-to-the-eset-lab
  22. it's weird that the submit file doesn't exist in your program. i can't view the file. files uploaded in the forum posts are visible only to moderators and eset staff, that's why i asked to copy paste the contents here or picture them. sorry i didn't clarify it earlier.
  23. try to send the file via the online form. https://www.eset.com/int/support/malware-analysis/ if it doesn't accept it, upload it to a location like google drive or OneDrive and send the link along with your message to the form. could you open the autorun file to notepad and copy paste the conents here? or post it as images. btw i believe all programs of eset have a submit file for analysis option.
  24. smart scan and the right click context option from the Windows Explorer both work as indented
  25. what can i say, it was the first time ever that this happened. perhaps the program glitched and it didn't show it. i still have the logs however
