  1. These have been implemented a long time ago. If establishing a connection takes too long, ekrn cannot wait forever. Of course, we'd like to make some improvements in this regard in future versions. perhaps you could make ekrn test every couple of minutes if connection to a specified address is feasible and then start a new check for signature update if it could successfully connect to that address. that way it won't have to wait for another 60 minutes.
  2. during older unin/installations I had no problem to successfully import the settings. my main concern is after initial setup I must check twice the settings I want to change because they won't be saved. the affected areas are real-time file system protection > threatsense setup on-demand computer scan > threatsense engine document protection > setup update > settings > setup > regularly check for.... update > update rollback (it won't remember the number I set until I set it 2nd or 3rd time) in the subcategories of "objects", "options" and "other" in these areas settings won't persist after changing them for the first time and I must do it again.
  3. what do you mean with multiple profiles? I am able to import my already exported settings without an issue, when I managed to export a file with all the settings I wanted. the example I gave earlier it was just one of the part of settings I see they don't get saved.
  4. so I started from scratch and i have several xml files. the file with the number 2 is the second attempt to save a new file with the settings. even with admin rights I noticed that some of them didn't stay as I set them. I selected to save them on the desktop. settings after starting program with admin rights (2).xml settings after starting program with admin rights.xml settings right after installation.xml
  5. my OS is win 8.1 32bit, ESS 8.0.312.0. i was using the same version i mention. the main issue is this, even after a clean install (from safe mode with the uninstaller tool), when I configure the settings i notice in settings > computer > on-demand computer scan > threatsense setup > objects. most of them won't be saved after clicking OK on all windows and open them again, the checkboxes will be blank again. I have to double and triple check/set them in order to be saved again. so I guess this is why most of them won't be saved on the xml in the beginning. the old xml was the one i had managed to export when all settings were exactly as i wanted them. the new was right after configuring the settings for the first time after the completion of the installation. the location i select to save them is in the Documents folder. i will try to use the uninstaller in safe mode and start again with SS in admin rights and report later.
  6. I visited the Daemon tools website and the downloads are blocked by SS. so I guess our friend Lawren might have put the site and executables in whitelist and allowed installation.
  7. i'm just an average user, i'm not affiliated with eset
  8. you have also reported it last year https://forum.eset.com/topic/2622-mistake-to-blocked-a-site/ unless you clean the site, it will never be unblocked
  9. I did a clean install of ess (using the uninstaller at safe mode) and after setting up depending on my needs, I went to export the settings. half of the settings are not exported as meant and they are missing from the XML file. I compared the old and the new XML settings file using notepad++. I've encountered this issue for years and several versions. export settings will not be exported 100% EDIT. I want to add that after going through the settings again, I saw that most of them didn't save upon pressing OK during my initial setup. I change the settings I want to change, press OK, open the settings panel again, and they are back to default and not saved.
  10. the notification says The web page is on the list of websites with potentially dangerous content which means enough people reported it as dangerous and thus eset blocked it. and if they found dangerous content, they won't unblock it unless the site is clean.
  11. I agree that some products are poorly written applications that use a hell lot of resources
  12. Maybe (hopefully) in the future. But at the moment I can't agree with that. don't trust sites that perform so called tests, it's their opinion not yours. who knows in what environment they mass test the programs? is it a physical pc with full or none installed programs? is it a virtual machine? did they install all AVs all at once and run their "tests" what? always trust your experience and not others.
  13. the email response after purchasing the product is always a valid one.
  14. I have no issues with copying files back and forth to my internal hard drives
  15. it's not the AV that will slow down your pc. it's the hard drive fragmentation, amount of available ram, aging hard drive and so on ... no AV will slow down the pc in any way you use it.
  16. the windows versions links are also in http, don't be afraid the program will be the original.
  17. system restore fails with the latest version of ESS. it has already been reported https://forum.eset.com/topic/3345-windows-81-system-restore-fails-with-ess78/ https://forum.eset.com/topic/4106-restoration-of-system-does-not-work-with-eset/?hl=%2Bsystem+%2Brestore
  18. also each vendor has their secrets that they might not reveal on general public specs of the product
  19. I confirm the issue with HTTP setting enabled. the website on IE and Chrome didn't display correctly. upon disabling the HTTP checking, it was fine. 20. i used a Hotmail address to send again feedback from the product itself, and I got a response from eset. this means that it was sent without problems.
  21. I have faced a similar issue last year and I didn't pay notice because I thought it was a temp server issue.
  22. so the best solution would be to change mail provider and use anything other than yahoo?
