no i didnt. i don't mess around with hips as it may cause problems with the functionality of the pc. the default are fine.

it's not disabled, if you see next there are green check marks, which means it's ok. it's exactly the same with my configuration in the default settings. so don't worry

the latest version is 8.0.319 go to this link select the version of your OS and language and download it. hxxp://www.eset.com/int/download//home/detail/family/5?installer=offline (if you dont know what bit is your OS, the wrong downloaded file will give you an error during install so dont worry.) in a few weeks it will be ready and released to regular updates servers.

is this filter reinstalled when the ESET program is installed again?

on work days it's more than five, on weekends it's less.

or keep the regular updates enabled, and wait until it's stable enough to be distributed to all users.

once you select the regular updates, it will remove the pre-release modules.

afaik eset home products dont mess around with explorer.exe this could happen with other programs installed in the computer.

i just checked with a folder and after changing the view setting, closing the folder, opening it again and changing again. the view setting was staying as i was setting it. in my case windows 10 and SS 8.0.319.0 doesn't affect the folder views. not even malware/pua affect the setting.

thank you so much for the reply. i restored the pc successfully a while ago. some kind of release notes would be useful even for updated modules. i'm saying to add at least simple release notes even for modules because if i wouldn't ask i would have to remove the AV, do the restore, reinstall and repair it, just in case to be sure everything works as expected with it. please consider adding even simple or the highlights release notes of modules.

i use v8 and this "issue" is present. also microsoft is aware of the bug in the icon and as i said they will fix it in a later windows build

this is normal behavior and eset has nothing to do with the action center icon on the new win 10 build that will be released later this fall it will contain improvements to the action center icon

v8 has a problem where on windows machines it wouldn't let system restore to successfully restore the system. this is related to hips and how it protects system files. we were told that they would add an option that will allow system restore to complete successfully in a future version. i wanna know if that option was added in v9. (i hate to uninstall my av in order for a restore to complete)

of curse they will continue this practice.

1. the video with the rgistry hack talks about a completely different version of XP and updates might not work as expected on the home version. 2. there is no service pack 4. the pack states that it has some other programs packed to mass update them. for example it has the latest to that date version of flash player, java. etc. installing unofficial updates from unknown sources is as equal as giving me the password to your credit card along with the card. 3. not all updates are qualified for all versions of windows. anyway it will die when in a few years noone will create programs with minimum version of XP. and anyway it's your pc do whatever you want with it. but don't start blaming the AV companies that won't support XP or when a OS flaw is discovered and the AV won't be able to protect you from it. have a nice day

during it's era it have been a good OS, but dont forget that it will NEVER get another update from microsoft, so even if you get a AV from the future using a time machine it will still be a valnurable OS. consider this scenario. in your country, let's say all health care companies run windowx xp. and they decide they wont get contracts from microsoft for extended win xp updates due to financial reasons, then attackers discover a security issue and since microsoft wont patch it, it is free for anyone to exploit it. all computers running xp in the health care companies will "die" and with it the millions of data of the people registered with them. you use win xp. (as stated before) when all av companies stop supporting xp and require at least win 7/8, what are you going to do? discconect from the internet forever? be warned that even a very good and feature rich AV wont help you if your OS is not patched and not up to date. if you dont want to understand that a almost 20 years old OS is considered garbage, there is nothing else we can do.

ESET 6 and higher have currently no end of life date so these programs will receive definition updates until they reach their end of life. laptops usually come with a preinstalled AV, check the installed programs list to see if anything other than eset is present and remove it.
