When it's ready. In general they release new major versions in October, towards the end of the month, but there isn't a specific date set afaik.

It seems some are seeing Eset scanning for updates in the taskbar icon but eset itself in the update area isn't looking for updates. I've had issues myself with updates taking a while but I've never seen the icon claiming to be looking and eset itself not, but I've seen screenshots showing that it can do this

    Bit of history right there

2.7 Was a game changer for many reasons. Nod32 & Sygate Firewall  ......... Perfect Combo in that time 😍

A simple test to determine the effect Eset has on your system at startup, disable the scheduled task to update at start up, restart your system. If start up time is drastically reduced than Eset may be the culprit. You can do the same with the scheduled start up scan.

How long should it take though because generally speaking on bootup eset is taking often in the region of 20 minutes to update. I've supplied some logs and understand that it is using less resources but something under 1mb should be quick. I can imagine a lot of people thinking something was wrong with their AV due to this.

You're right. It confirmed that update is run with very low priority, ie. if more CPU intensive processes with normal priority were running, they would use more of the CPU while the update less which could result in update taking longer than usual.

It's not not Windows but Javascript malware. On Mac ESET does not perform SSL filtering, ie. the content of https websites is not scanned.

Eset revoked cert. detection is correct - see below QUALS screen shot.
Note! Chryslercaptia.com URL cert. is OK. It is the cert. used for myaccount.chryslercaptial.com URL that has been revoked.

I'd rather they continue to focus on detection rather than a silly page of splashy graphics that proves nothing.

I just tried to download from this web site. See below screen shot. Firefox prevented the download; not Eset:

Yes, It can scan dmg files. I don't have one with any malicious files embedded to test the detection aspect but I assume it would.

I really wonder if you and prior other like posters are for some reason observing ekrn.exe working set size; i.e. virtual + real memory allocation versus real memory allocation in Win Task Manager.
Process Explore shows a working set size of approx. 270 MB for ekrn.exe on my device. However, real memory allocation is only 86 MB currently.
I also wonder if posters with this issue have for reason disabled the Win page file on their devices? This would force ekrn.exe to use real memory versus virtual + real memory.

It depends on how you define MS Defender.
There are settings in Defender Security Center that are not dependent upon Windows Defender use; SmartScreen, Exploit protection, and Device protection settings such as Hypervisor core and memory protection are other examples.
As I posted in a thread on Application Guard I opened a while back, it appears that the only AV that will work in an Application Guard virtual Edge or MS Office app instance is Windows Defender or the endpoint version, Windows Defender ATP. However, these virtualized apps run just fine using any third party AV; you're just not being protected by them in an Application Guard session.

That's the least of the unorthodox things it does. It packs its kernel mode device drivers and loads them on-the-fly.

A hell of a lot more functionality.
For starters, it has full wildcard support. It's custom rules support detection and parsing of command line paths, etc. etc.. Also, a newer feature is whitelisting via Trusted Publisher specification.

If you have v14.2.23 installed you don't have to do anything unless you experience crashes which you shouldn't by default. Issues may occur only under specific circumstances with non-default firewall mode settings.
