It was removed in v9 or v10 already. The engine version is now not that important with the development and addition of new technologies in products. You can find this information under Update -> Show all modules.

I understand what you are talking about.
Of course, most antivirus products are now based on cloud with new technologies but also virus signature database (Detection Engine) are still updated 4~6 times every single day for ESET product.

Old version of ESET product I just need one step (move mouse point to ESET system tray icon) to check info and now I need 3 steps to check this info and 2 steps to close
I'm talking about UX Desgin for user convenience.

Hi Marco.  Thanks for replying.  I was under the impression that we'd bought everything.  Here's what the order receipt says I bought.  Does this mean I still need to buy something else?  When I open Eset on my computer, the Nod32 comes up.  Have I installed it wrong?

ESET Multi Device Security - Comprehensive Internet Security for PCs, Macs and Android devices, New, 1 year, 5 computers + 5 devices, Download Version - No Box Shipment.

You have a ESET Multi Device Security license so you don't need to buy something else for firewall.
If you want ESET Antivirus + ESET Firewall, Just download ESET Internet Security from https://www.eset.com/
uninstall ESET NOD32 Antivirus, install ESET Internet Security
Use your ESET Multi Device Security license to activate the software.

Malwarebytes, ClamAV and Kaspersky(cloud detection) could detect a malware.
CCleaner v5.33.6162 and CCleaner Cloud v1.07.3191 had been compromised.
If you use CCleaner v5.33.6162 and CCleaner Cloud v1.07.3191 you must update a program and scan the system with Malwarebytes (free).

With regard to MBAM. I removed it, it presented way to many headaches. As soon as I find someone that I dislike enough I'll give them my lifetime license.

I think that MBAM is still effective second opinion tool.  If you really throw away lifetime license. I'm willing to take it. * I know you are kidding :)

I do not get it : why do I have to use a free product (Anti-Ransomware free edition) to work with a paid product (ESET) which has a dedicated antiransomware module in the last version (ver10)?

Each to his own. Of course, You don't have to and also why not?
CheckMAL AppCheck Anti-Ransomware free edition shows strong automatic behavior detection and provides automatic real-time backup of original files to recover files. You can add a extra layer which ESET does not provide.
it's free and there are many quality free products. Do not think paid product is always better than free product? most case but not always.

I mostly agree with all of you and think we don't control user's behavior, despite any education we can give and even if they try.

At risk or not, users are victims of viruses and making them fell guilty doesn't help.

I agree with you and Ransomware Phishing (FedEx, UPS, DHL, Résumé, Friends or co-worker email) has become much more sophisticated especially after Yahoo service massive data breaches(1 billion Yahoo account has been hacked). I also received some Phishing email from full name of business partners, co-works and friends.

Cyber criminals use vulnerability of PDF and MS Word document. For example if you open the résumé file (pdf or ms word) your system can be infected without any knowledge. Employee who receives tons of emails daily they can make a mistake and click or open file accidentally anytime even though he or she got cybersecurity education.

But it's pointless Malwarebytes can detect that or ESET can detect this...etc at this point. If you send ELC logs to ESET staff then people who use ESET product will get benefit. I usually reported financial malware and adware which ESET missed.

ESET product shows decent detection rate result all the time about Ransomware but it does not have a strong behavior-based detection system like Symantec SONAR or Kaspersky System Watcher for unknown malware(ex: new ransomware variants) and most non-technical people make difficult and use ESET's HIPS(Host intrusion prevention system) rules.

You have to pay to use Malwarebytes Real time scan components. You can try CheckMAL AppCheck Anti-Ransomware free edition (it is free for personal use) It works with ESET product.

    Just my 2 cents

  7. "ESET NOD32 Antivirus nor ESET Endpoint Security v5 do not protect you from malware exploiting CVE2017-0144 at the network level."

I understand that ESET NOD32 Antivirus does not protect from EternalBlue exploit(Wannacry ransomware attack) and EternalRomance exploit at the 'network level' because ESET NOD32 Antivirus does not have a firewall & IDS

ESET NOD32 Antivirus also has a HIPS and exploit protection based on same database with EIS and ESS so I believe that ESET NOD32 Antivirus could protect the system from EternalBlue exploit and EternalRomance exploit when it happened WannaCry ransomware Petya Ransomware Outbreak.
Any ESET staff can confirm ESET NOD32 Antivirus also can protect system from NSA exploits(EternalBlue exploit, EternalRomance ) at that time?

Of course, I'm not talking about 'network level' protection.

If is true, seems a very stupid approach in licensing a  software....

It's true. Not just activation. Clearly "Use and activation in Canada only"
Even if the installed and already activated ESET software is working outside Canada you are breaking the license.
You cannot activate again outside Canada for fresh with a clean installation(Doesn't matter you activated once in Canada)

It's very strong antivirus product regional restrictions I've ever seen. ESET did not do this before in Canada but has changed now.

  9. ESET Product (Retail box edition)- "For use and activation in Canada only."

    Today, I could confirm that

    - I cannot use the software outside Canada under license (I don't have to use)
    - I cannot activate the software again outside Canada in case after reset or OS clean install (reasons: malware infection, bad Windows 10 updates, major Windows 10 updates..etc) even if I activated in Canada once

I returned the box to retail store and got a full refund.
I believe that if user activated the software under condition once then the key must be region-free and no more restrictions but it is NOT.

  10. I have two questions about regional restrictions

    1. If I purchased ESET product license in country A and activated in country A once
Can I activate the software in country B with same license key?
In case I reset or format PC while long business trip (reasons: malware infection, bad Windows 10 updates, major Windows 10 updates..etc)
I hope that it works if I activated once

    2. Do you have a Global License(Global activation code) like Kasperksy product?

  11. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is great product but if you are using well-known antivirus software you don't need Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium
I usually recommend to use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free-edition with other well-known antivirus software (ex: ESET, Kaspersky, Emsisoft, Windows defender(w8.1, w10 built-in)...etc)
