AGH1965 received kudos from micasayyo in Protected before splash-screen?
ESET Internet Security shows a splash-screen at startup. Every now and then I start my browser already before the splash-screen appears, but now I wonder if that is wise. Is the system already protected at that time or does the protection start when the splash-screen is shown?

AGH1965 received kudos from dfietkau in Windows Security says ESET Security is switched off
Every now and then I get messages from Windows Security telling me that there is something wrong. Windows Security > Settings > Manage Providers > Antivirus then shows that Windows Defender Antivirus is switched on and ESET Security is switched off, but Windows Security > Settings > Manage Providers > Firewall shows that ESET Firewall is switched on and Windows Firewall is switched off. The Start screen of ESET Internet Security says that I'm protected though, and I tend to believe that. It seems to me ESET Internet Security isn't telling Windows that it's antivirus part is active. Is this a common issue?
Temporarily switching off and back on of ESET's protection cures the problem, but only for once.
I tried to fix things more permanently by running the following commands that I found on the internet:
dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth sfc /scannow This seemed to improve things for a while, but after some time the problem popped up again.

P.S. I'm using Windows 10 Home version 2004 and ESET Internet Security version 14.0.22.0.

AGH1965 received kudos from Protopia in EIS firewall's interactive mode and Windows 10 apps
Until recently I used EIS and ESS in Windows 7 with the firewall's interactive mode activated. That way I can control which applications on my computer can access the internet and which can't. Once this approach made me detect a virus even before ESS recongized it.
Recently I switched to Windows 10 and I continued using EIS firewall's interactive mode as I did before. Unfortunately the Windows apps that are located in C:\Program Files\WindowsApps keep moving to different subfolders when they are updated. This means that I have to continue adding new firewall rules for the same apps over and over again. This makes using EIS firewall's interactive mode quite annoying.
Is there a solution for this that I'm not aware of?

AGH1965 received kudos from Mirek S. in As soon as possible option of Scheduler
    Here some more results:
If consecutive scheduled daily scans can't run at the scheduled time, then the scan will only be done as soon as possible if the previous scan was at least 23 hours ago. If that is not the case yet, then EIS will wait until it is.
If consecutive scheduled weekly scans can't run at the scheduled time, then the scan will only be done as soon as possible if the previous scan was at least 6 days and 23 hours ago. If that is not the case yet, then EIS will wait until it is.
In my opinion this is not how it should be!
For example: A scan is scheduled to run every Monday at 00:00:00, but it doesn't get the chance to run at that time. The computer isn't booted any earlier than Wednesday 20:00:00, but almost directly after booting the missed scan is executed. The next week again there is no chance to run the scan at the scheduled time, but now the computer is booted on Monday at 08:00:00. I would expect the scan to run then almost directly after booting, because it is scheduled to run every Monday at 00:00:00 and in this case 08:00:00 is as soon as possible, but instead EIS decides to wait until Wednesday 19:00:00, which is 6 days and 23 hours after the previous scan. In other words, if there is never a chance to run the scan at the scheduled time, then it will take many weeks to get the scan running on Monday again, because the time will only be advanced 1 hour a week.

It is very simple. Use SetThreadExecutionState. See: link to Microsoft Windows Dev Center.

Perhaps a bit of historical review will get things into proper perspective.
Eset prior to ver. 9 had a "dated" but well-liked user interface. Starting with ver. 9, Eset adopted the current Metro style GUI. I assume that was for compatibility for all devices on which Win 10 could be installed on. There were a lot of complaints initially about the Metro style GUI; especially with changes made in regards to HIPS rule creation and editing. I am also one who did not like the changes made to the HIPS in regards to the Metro GUI adoption. Over time, I have adapted to the changes to the Eset GUI due to the Metro style changes.
The point here is Eset laid out the GUI as best as it could in light of restrictions employed by use of the Metro style. Although it may be possible to perform limited changes to the Eset existing GUI, I really wouldn't expect to much in this regard.

You have a very complicated program here, lots of features, menus, pull-down menus. As a user seeing the program for the first time (not really), I want to find what I want with minimum effort. For the best layout for the user (not the programmer), I stumble around a lot in trying to find what I am looking for. If I were the lead programmer, I would get a pack of 3X5 cards and lay out a system of logic, with features set up the way I would expect to see it as a User. I had to fish around quite a bit to find, for example, how to schedule a scan. For another example of what's wrong, take a look at Tools and see the three unlikely items under it -- and "More tools," hidden away so I did not see it the first four times looking for what I wanted. When I finally noticed "More tools," I saw the eleven items under. All items should be under "Tools," and I should see such subcategories as Scheduling and logs, Network issues, Cleaning (system; malware); Send to Eset; Reports, and more. A lot of research has gone into how to lay out a program for the user, see https://www.uie.com/  .

AGH1965 received kudos from itman in Idle Time Scanning Question?
According to ESET Online Help it will. Logging off can be used as a trigger for idle-state scanning.

AGH1965 received kudos from zeromido in Scheduled Scans
    Description: Prevent sleep during scan.
Detail: Windows can put the computer to sleep before the scan is finished. That is very annoying. There should be an option to prevent that from happening.

Oops, it's a coincidence that @zeromido asked someting similar here right above. Before I started typing, I first searched the forum for "scan prevent sleep".
