Fix of product update will be in upcoming hot-fix. We must also fix it on released affected versions before we will be able to release mentioned hot fix via product updates channel.
It is crucial to customers to have updated product modules to avoid this problem again, especially 'Mac/Linux support module' must be of version 1048 or higher.
If customer have this problem again because of late module updates, manual installation of hot fix will solve this issue.

This is what we have been looking for. Someone understanding the issue and assuring us they know how to fix it. Too bad it took 3 weeks.

Can you confirm what your update settings were? I think my mistake was that I was letting EEA update itself.
I have changed this to the middle filled circle.

What do you mean by a 3rd party tool? I'm using JAMF but there were no changes in there.

After some research today I found that it might have been a failed "product update". In my policy from ESET Protect product updates were disabled but the setting was not enforced with the blue dot or the flash.
If I looked in the settings on the client, it had product updates enabled. So I'm thinking it could be a update to 7.4 that got stuck and left EEA in an unusable state.

I was running 7.3.3600.0 and that had a module update. No version of EEA or macOS was changed. It was a module update AFAIK.

Ok, so we can uninstall and install the new version but the real problem here is that eset needs to understand that they remotely turned off web browsing on thousands of macs without warning and without a version number change.

There was no change from our end on configuration profiles, network or management policies in the ESET Protect server (version 10.0.2133.0).

I do have a VPN client installed but it is not running.
My coworkers are experiencing the same issue. I have already reached out to my support contact.

Today I got an alert in the ESET menu bar item telling I need to restart because of an update. So I did.
After the restart I lost my web browsing. The version number of the EEA Application was still 7.3.3600.0.
I had to resort to uninstalling.

Saying so if this is the reason, the Agent should behave differently.
In my case the profile has been there all of the time. And netprotd sounds more like the web traffic filter.

Hi! I hope you do understand that we (or at least most of us) are not asking for beta version support. We are worried that Ventura is released and we cannot run antivirus on it.
If you replied that "Yes we are working on supporting macOS 13 on day one!" We would not be as worried.

I'm having the issue that the web filter is running at 99% CPU even though I'm not doing anything special at all.
Also, it is set to only filter email ports 110 and 143 which I'm not even using.
Yes, I'm also creating a support ticket and collecting logs but I wanted to post this here so others can know they are not alone.

I'm upgrading from version 6 to 7 and I don't want web and email protection. But the EEA really wants me to. So what I'm forced to do is:

Short version:
- Push the profiles to the machine including the VPN.
- Have a version 7 Configuration Policy that enables web and email protection (but only for something like POP3 and I suppress alerts for the others)
- Install version 7 using pkg.
If I do not add the VPN configuration profile, EEA will prompt me to add it.
If I do not enable web and email protection in the configuration policy, VPN is stuck on connecting and all other network traffic is halted until manually disconnected and "enable VPN on demand" is unchecked.
Is there some way to do this where the antivirus will just leave my network connections alone?

The eset protect admin agent installed from the start with no issue but it does not talk to our Protect console. So with it not on the console and these being macs I tried just pushing the client. I used the information from kb7324 to setup the exclusions. Our eset proctect on premise console runs on linux from the OVA file. We had eset for a few years but just started working in the last few months.
In the version 7 DMG there is a hidden directory called .resources. In there you ca find installer.pkg. It works perfectly!

@Marcos OK, I've tried creating a pkg without the web and email components but it still alerts me "Web and email protection is non-functional" even though the alert is disabled from our ESET Protect server and the components are not installed. How do we get rid of the alert?

However, we don't recommend removing components as a permanent solution but rather as an interim workaround. We recommend that you contact customer care and report the issues you are having with a particular component. We will do our best to fix the issue(s) if there are no technical obstacles.
Thank you @Marcos! I've tried creating a profile for the "Web access protection" and it does add the network interface without prompt.
If I change "Enable VPN on demand" to false (Uncheck the box in JAMF) it does not try to connect (so far) I've haven't tested so much. So far so good! I'll check if I can create a pkg without the web component next so I don't have to see the "Web and email protection is non-functional"-alert in the menu bar.

I already have a case open and sent logs.
