@Marcos by now I think it should be obvious that there is a problem specifically with the Linux version of WAP and not the Windows version.
Like I already said - disabling WAP entirely is the only way (other than stopping the eea service entirely) to load the website (in Chrome and/or FF).

Hello in version 9.1.13.0 is fixed to run on Ubuntu 22.04 latest kernels, in changelog Fixed: Compilation of kernel modules fails with latest kernels on Ubuntu 22.04. Latest kernel on Ubuntu in time of release is 6.5, it should work with latest kernel with no issues.

As I understand from one of my colleagues this is because it is locked to an extended hardware support module
"linux-headers-generic-hwe-22.04 " is required which is an LTS specific package not needed in the rolling releases. Enabling support/use of "linux-headers-generic" would seem to at least partly resolve the issue - even if this was only available as an alpha/unsupported config

ESET needs to change this rule. It seems this is also different in every country. For example in Indonesia you can only buy the home version 5 licenses for one email account, but if I look at the US site you will be able to buy 10 licenses. Maybe if they lower the purchase limit for Endpoint, but it could make a difference in price with the home version.

    Hi.
We have ERA on prem and deployed new linux version on our webservers.
Thing is, that "wapd" proccess is consuming CPU and eventually webserver stops working.
How can we disable WebAccess protection or unload it forever?
In policy I can`t see option at all...
On linux we just need ondemand scan and RTP and nothing else.
Also pages were loading really slow (those hosted on our webserver)....
It seems like half baked solution for now, had to go to older version.

It's not a matter of distro, it's a matter of kernel. You can use the current Ubuntu or, for that matter, any other recently updated distro like Fedora, CentOS Stream etc, as long as you stick with kernel 6.3.13. Any kernel newer than that won't work. For instance, I'm on Fedora 39, but I version locked the kernel to 6.3.13 and ESET Endpoint runs fine. I also recommend sticking with version 9.x of the antivirus given that version 10 introduces web protection which is completely broken and would block all your internet traffic, as already reported by multiple people on this forum.

It's the web access protection, same goes for Fedora:

If you roll back to 9.1.11 it will work.
Still, I'd like ESET to introduce an option in the GUI to disable Web Access Protection in version 10.x and future versions as well so that the user can decide and add exceptions etc.

Recently, we have an update for linux machine version 10.0.3.0. After getting this update, all of the Ubuntu machines are facing network issues. As all of my users cannot access localhost from their browser and it interrupts  multifactor authentication to the remote sites.
    Need solution ASAP

    Hello @FranceBB,
well yes, as the v9 didn't have the Web Access Protection feature at all.
I recommend to follow it up via a ticket so it can be checked and resolved / work-around-ed.
The WAP brings an important additional level of protection...

As someone who is a home user and a business user, the fact that buying an Eset license had me covered everywhere was a real big deal.
It was also very easy to convince someone to go ahead with it. Infact i wish your linux server offering did even more things, such as exploit protection and web application firewalling. (This would be really usefull)

You make hands down the most configurable security solution, for example you are the only AV i could even find that has a decently configurable Firewall.

If Microsoft keeps pushing the requirement for a Microsoft account in 22h2 id guess there would be a lot of new Linux users.
Plus its catching on, the userbase is growing, Valve is investing tons of resources into Linux gaming.

I know you might not see a big enough number of installs, but don't neglect to take into account all of us who bought it just incase we might need it. Its a great selling point.

    Kind regards

What I've gotten from what I've seen from Eset is if costs too much to run the Linux home user version which is based on an older version. The cost issue is mainly due to lack of users e.g the amount of users is too small to justify the cost.
I'm not a Linux user but from what I can see the business versions use a newer system not compatible with the old home version. What I wonder is if there was a way to basically use the business version but with the features of the home version in a way that wouldn't incur any additional costs as it is using the business version rather than its own separate version

I always loved ESET NOD32 for Linux, and I have used it on my desktop, personal notebook and work notebook. However, I was surprised with the news that it will be discontinued on next year. The business version is clearly not good for home users due to the cost and the dependencies on ESET PROTECT.
So, I think the business version could have two interfaces: the actual ESET PROTECT for business cases, and a more simple GUI for home users. In this case, the main daemon do not need to be changed, and the home GUI could be used to control the main daemon.
On business environments, admins will install only daemons on workstations, as they do today, and home users will install the current daemon and a small interface to control the daemon.
    Is that possible?

this is really a good news for us. although we use eset protect to manage the workstation, we can not afford that every single command can only be triggered via administrator. there should be things which belong to users. we administrator only want to do policy works. I don't mind to wait for 1 year or even 2 years. just hope that endpoint linux can be a real usable product.

    Hi @Marcos
I'm a single license home user of ESET NOD32 antivirus for Linux Desktop (on Linux Mint 20.2), with a 2 year ESET NOD32 license which began this year and now told the product is ending next year (August 3, 2022) before the 2 years has completed. I'm in the same situation as and agree with the posts/replies of @FranceBB, @IsNotACatNamedGeorge, @czesetfanand @azeu666. I have received the same or very similar emails they described and been provided with new license key(s) for ESET 8.  One email suggests I install Endpoint remotely and yet I'm a a home user, not a business user running multiple machines on a network. Seems like I'm receiving emails intended for business users running networked machines or managing employees computers. On August 4, I received two almost identical emails (same body text), yet with different subject titles, different license keys, different expiration dates and the license keys are for 5 seats (not a single home user). So it looks like not only have I received emails intended for business users about EOL for NOD32, I've also been sent at least one license key for a different user with an expiration date which doesn't match the date of 2 years from the start of my single home user license. If this is confusing you, try imagine how I felt lol. The emails suggest I install Endpoint without Protect, yet the website page providing a guide for the upgrade/replacement (titled [KB7911] Migrate from ESET NOD32 Antivirus for Linux Desktop to ESET Endpoint Antivirus for Linux) suggests I get Protect free of charge. Yet one user here is saying Protect costs 380Euros, which is a big jump from the 45GBP I paid this year for NOD32 for 2 years. There's also no way I can appear to use Protect as a single home user from the guide, it looks like I only get Endpoint which as other users here have pointed out, Endpoint doesn't do much without Protect or without some controls, which it doesn't yet have. You say it is yet to have a manual on-demand scan added. Seems way too early, from a customer service point of view,  to be asking home users to switch if it is such a downgrade.  You also say that:
I thought the "32" in NOD32 made it look legacy for 32-bit (when most people like myself have been using 64-bit for over a decade).  Yet the latest online reviews/articles I read at the start of 2021 for best Linux antivirus/security software (paid) for home users all suggested that ESET NOD32 is the best or highly recommended. What you've said suggests something completely different, it sounds like NOD32 for Linux isn't maintained properly, was developed years ago and is unable to keep up with current threat development, therefore it's not good security software?
I'm going to look for alternative software because Endpoint is not what I'm looking for, unless it changes or unless the Protect software is explained better than in its current support guide/format, which looks like it is written for IT/system managers. I'm worried from the description and guides for Endpoint that it might be accessed remotely by someone else (not good for privacy) and that I have little to no control over it compared to NOD32's security options.  I imagine you have lots of Linux ESET NOD32 home users who wouldn't want to use Endpoint as standalone software in its current form. I don't know if every other home user received the emails I have done (for business users and two sets of wrong license details) or it they were a mistake? I definitely don't want to upgrade to Endpoint in its current form and agree with others comments in this thread (about ESET 8/Endpoint for home users). I think it would have been better if Linux NOD32 home users, such as myself, were instead sent emails explaining that you are no longer going to support Linux home users from August 2, 2022, and perhaps to offer a refund for the license period remaining after that date.

Yes, but only until the expiration of the license (and this does not apply to Multi device licenses). Is it possible to buy a new Home license? No. So from mid-2022, home users will no longer be able to use ESET on Linux.

It's sad that ESET is abandoning home Linux users. With the discontinuation of Ver.4, the antivirus will no longer be available for home users. The question is whether this is due to the small threat to home PCs, or ESET's small profit from them. I think that if there are threats to home Linux PCs, there should also be a protection option for them. Obviously this would not form ESET's main income, but I don't believe that if they can make the various AV free, that the HOME version, of the Bussines product being developed anyway, could not be handled. Is there really no possibility of keeping the Home version?

I understand the termination of v4. But is it a problem to release v8 for Home users? After all, that's how v4 : Home and Business edition worked. Why won't it be the same for v8?

    Hello
I don't doubt that there is real-time protection. It just doesn't work on my Linux computer.
The installed EEA shows the security warning: Real-time file protection is not functional.
The OS is Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS. Secure Boot is switched on and should stay that way.
ESET wants private users to migrate to the EEA business software. It turns out that EEA v8 is only designed for the client. If private users want to scan their OS for viruses, they are forced to purchase ESET Protect.
ESET Protect is currently being offered by ESET for € 380.56.
Now it's getting interesting. According to Mail, the migration from Linux Antivirus to EEA is free as long as the subscription for ESET NOD32 Antivirus for Linux Desktop is valid. In my opinion that is only half the story. In reality, the replacement product EEA is restricted in its functionality. The user cannot freely decide whether to run a virus scan, for example. All the functions of the ESET NOD32 Antivirus are not available in the EEA.
And what happens when the subscription has expired? If the Linux user wants to continue using ESET for Linux, is it forced to purchase the much more expensive ESET Protect?
Do ESET name the end of life for ESET NOD32 Antivirus for Linux?
No one from ESET has yet commented on this.
My subscription will continue to run for a while and as long as every user has the right to full functionality, as implemented in ESET NOD32 Antivirus for Linux.
I find ESET's business conduct very questionable.

And here lies the problem: with the fact that NOD32 4.0.96.0 is gonna be discontinued, home users like me are being prompted to upgrade to ESET Endpoint Antivirus v8 and have received a business licence for it via email. This is ok if it wasn't for the fact that in businesses from what I understand users will have virtually no control over what is done underneath as everything is handled by the IT Department of the organization through ESET PROTECT.
This is kinda a problem 'cause for home users such a solution makes no sense; I mean, using two different products to manage the same system.
I think that, going forward, there are gonna be two options: either not deprecated NOD32 4.0.96.0 and keep offering definitions update etc, or introduce the very same options that were available in NOD32 in the new ESET Endpoint Antivirus v8 and introduce something to check what the rules are and either enable users to modify those settings and use the options or disable them from using them and hand over the control to the IT Department in case of a corporate environment.
This way, both home users and business users are gonna be happy.
Exactly what I said: here we're seeing home users being pushed towards a business oriented solution with no regard to home users...
Which is far from ideal for home users...
Please add all the other options, you're gonna make lots of people happy, I mean it...

    The email:
I had a home license I think, but it's now a business license. I upgraded because, why not? If that is what it's going to be, then fine. But there are no options, you cannot even manually scan.
I have a brand new machine 5800x 32gb ram and nvme drive. It's very fast. Until today lol. It takes like 30 seconds to open terminal. Neofetch took almost a minute to grab info vs about a second before. I use PopOS 21.04.

I will DM you the license.
