How will this impact my existing ERA 5.x server? I have to have both of them up during the migration as I cannot upgrade all computers to ESET 7 at the same time. I am doing them in batches.

I am trying to find a discrepancy in my license count and I do not see a license template which lists licenses used by computername. The 2 reports I see only give an overview. I am missing a license and need to know what computernames have licenses assigned to them. How can this be accomplished?

Hello, Now that we are going into Production with our ESMC 7 server, I need to know what files/folders need to be backed up for disaster recovery. I have already selected the SQL db, but are there other folders I need to back up? Thanks.

Thank you for looking into the suggestion. We only have a few computers that would have multiple users logged in at one time. In 5.x, the logged in user shows up as "Multiple users". It doesn't happen often, so it wouldn't be a problem for us. To clarify - I'm asking to have the option to display this info in the computer table. Either have it off by default, but allow admins to enable it or vice-versa. Regarding the Detection engine, what I am looking for (and what we used the VSDB info for) is to be able to see at a quick glance, which machines are not updated. I suppose that ESMC will flag machines in red if they have an issue, but then we have to drill down to find out what is going on. Sometimes it's as simple as the machine being turned off, which we don't need to investigate.

I had this same problem and can confirm that the fix MichalJ posted works.

Description: Add fields to Computers list Detail: In ESET ERA 5.x you could customize the fields in the list of computers. It made it very easy to see what user is logged into a particular machine because you could add a custom field with the username. In ESMC, you have to click on the machine, then click Show Details and then scroll down to Users to see who is logged in. The same goes for the Virus DB version (now called Detection Engine in ESMC). Please give administrators the option to make the console less click intensive. We need to be able to find info quickly without having to click and scroll so much. Thanks for listening.

This brings up a question about installing software: When you create a new software installation task for the client using the " Install package from repository" option, it downloads from the ESET servers, but does the client do the downloading, or the server? This is an important thing to know as our desktops are not allowed to download executables.

Here's an update. I upgraded one of our test machines from ESET Antivirus 5.0 to 7.0. Opening up the Advanced Settings, I found that our file exclusion list was there. I went through all of the settings in 7 and compared them to a machine still running 5. Most of the settings had carried over from the version 5 config. I downloaded that config in ESMC and then converted it to a policy, then assigned it to the desired group. Hopefully this helps someone else who is struggling with the same question.

Can someone explain the difference between the HTTP Proxy policy for the Management Agent and the one for the Security product? I am trying to set up my initial installers and I'm having trouble making sense of these two different policies. Thanks.

The software we use to manage our user profiles needs to have it's scripts as well as the compressed files that it saves user data in excluded, otherwise it can slow down or hang user logins. We have been running this way for some time and we are comfortable with the risk. Creating a policy then exporting defeats the purpose. I am trying to export the items from our existing policies, rather than creating them from scratch. If I have to create the policy in order to export it, then why not just manually add the exclusions to the existing antivirus policy, which is what I was trying to avoid?

I am hoping to find a way to export my exclusion list from my 6.5 test server to my soon-to-be production ESMC 7 server. All I want is the exclusion list. Is there a way to do this? Thanks.

I agree wholeheartedly. We have a simple environment of about 300 endpoints (about 90 servers and about 200 PCs) and we will need only a few policies and just getting a test environment set up is a herculean task when you are used to 5.x ERA. This product is one of the most unintuitive products I have ever laid eyes on. It would be nice if ESET updated their training videos and made them more comprehensive.
