I presume these are some of the newer security stuff with windows. Each new version does have newer protection so comparing to older versions isn't really applicable. I'd also add people would be put off by an AV not signed properly as it could look dodgy and you need to be able to trust your AV
You mention a Hotel Clerk using XP but surely any system a hotel would use would contain data, either just user data and/or card details.
I think in these days it's bad advise/practise to advise people to use an OS no longer officially supported and officially patched

Surely blocking eset rules will in turn block things such as updating meaning you won't have the latest signatures and bug fixes.
I get people want to be in control of their computer and connections and privacy etc. But surely with an AV you give them access to all your files technically anyways so you should trust them. Yes I know some AVs have had issues in the past but Eset have always been very transparent and also give you clear options to disable things e.g. marketing and usage collection etc.

Correct. The Payment protection screen reads: "Add additional layer of protection to banking and payment applications", ie. it's enabled for applications, not for browsers. Since applications on Android run in an isolated sandbox, I assume that it's not possible to redirect to a secure browser by design.

I get eset might not be the best to look at but I'm confused about your chose of words, one in particular. Boring.
An antivirus is there to protect users and the most important thing should be that it does its job. How it looks can play a part but really you just want a UI that is easy to navigate and familiarity does play a part and the average user will tend to leave their AV running in the background to do its job without opening it much if it all.

The layout and most used features within the ESET gui are more accessible and easier to use than many of its peers. Being static does not detract from the product itself.

I doubt anyone would leave a good product behind for a bit of "eye candy" ☺️

You are just angry at something that you can't change , all companies do the same , they release an update and then they give the change notes after a while , or go meet Microsoft , they won't tell you what changed. or say hello to Steam
I don't represent ESET , and I don't work for them , but a delay of a bit or few hours after being posted in their download page and after that to their forum , it doesn't mean anything bad , they have posted it they didn't hide them , It's just a matter of a little bit of time delaying the upgrade so you can read the notes and after than initiate your upgrade or delay it for next version.

Please try to open B&P from the shortcut and go to your bank site, FF should work fine for you this way.
With FF and ESET banking and payment a separate profile is created. You may set your personal security you wish FF to use with B&P in this profile by just opening B&P and choosing FF "options" while in the B&P window (you can use tighter security than normal browser for example).
Personally I love this method of operation, I have just my secure payment sites in the B&P profile. I open B&P from the desktop shortcut when I want to have its extra level of protection while making payments. I even organize my favorites in that profile making the house finances very efficient.  
Getting every site to open as desired is quite a challenge with modern site design. If you supply your bank site the moderators may be able to pass that on to developers to see why it is not opening automatically.

You are right from the technical point of view. From the valued customer's point of view the phrase "bug" is simply a synonym to ... "problem" ...  "issue" ... "unexpected behavior" ... etc.
I would rather highlight the fact that Eset did not belittle the importance of this question, and did promise an urgent solution.

First, we would like to thank the user Daren for spotting and reporting this unusual communication to LiveGrid, as well as for reporting it to this forum. We can confirm that anonymized domain statistics (statistics about domain and their IP addresses performed by the client) were indeed sent to us despite the fact that this functionality had been switched off. This was due to a flaw in an update on 2019.3.25 at 10:25 CET.
The user report triggered an immediate investigation by ESET, and on the afternoon of March 26th at 15:03 CET, LiveGrid servers were adjusted to no longer receive the statistics. Two hours later, with the release of update 1549.3 of the Antivirus and Anti-Spyware scanner module, the issue was fixed.
We would like to apologize for the behavior of the scanner and respect the wishes and options our users make in the settings of our products. Although the statistics sent were anonymized at all times, we immediately removed any and all data that may have been collected in error. The users’ privacy was not affected.

I cannot be happier with the performance of the software; I would like to detail what I like best.

EIS is very low impact on system resources, significantly improving boot times and general performance on our windows 10 PC’s in our home.

The software is far easier than any other security software I have used to “setup”. For me setting the “enable detection of potentially unsafe applications” to on and setting my home network and it’s all done. In my previous vendor there were so many settings I had a list to use if re-install was necessary. The advanced setup available is also a huge advantage and the great forum here is the best place to get advice if you need help (I have answered most all of my own questions by searching and reading).

We practice safe computing in our home but have saw the software “protect” us by not allowing web sites to load on a few occasions in web searches.  I love the “lack” of popups and background behavior, only coming up when something needs my attention.    

The banking and payment is a great asset, I use this feature from its shortcut (not relying on site detection) when doing any online payment activity. I have not had any problems at all accessing sites, I even use PayPal on occasion and navigation through payment is flawless. I use Firefox as my browser of choice and love that I can create customization's in the Banking and Payment browser profile to enhance my personal security preferences while in B&P while not effecting my normal profile.

In migrating feature updates on Windows 10 the software was flawless this fall picking right up where it was. Also when an ESET major update is ready the updates have gone flawless as well. This is a great asset to “ease of use”.

Test results prevented me from coming to ESET sooner, this forum and the detail of explanation when these questions have come up (by other forum users) helped me understand what “test results” really mean. The reputation and commitment by ESET is evident in the software’s actual use.

Please accept my sincere thanks for having this great product available.  Anyone needing a great preforming AV suite should give ESET a try.

I will just share what I saw recently.
I just added a new lap-top about two weeks ago, I unboxed updated windows 10 home to current edition (1809). I then uninstalled all security software found with the ESET removal tool (on my unit that was McAfee) rebooted and ensured unit was looking good and running well. I installed the latest EIS with full installer fresh from the ESET web site.
I remember the scan starting very well as I chose to restart before it concluded this particular time (in this case I was adding software and chose to manual scan later) . So I remember the scan window as I thought about restarting and can verify (for me) the scan did start at original install like you remember.
I do not know if to worry or not, personally when I am am faced with something like this the safest thing for my (over active) mind is to carefully uninstall and reinstall. ESET allows this and it would put your mind to rest.  
We may likely get more info from someone more knowledgeable - Hope this helps - ebill

I suspect the "copies" you see are networks that were previous connections having the same name but some other criteria such as a different IP address, maybe a different router you have installed ect. Please look in the following area in the GUI - setup>advanced setup>Network protection>Known networks>edit after hitting edit see if you see the same Home and then Home 2,3,4 in that list.
You only need the one you are using, you can delete any unused networks here, I am guessing that may clean up your list.
Note that if the computer is a lap-top that goes to different networks and you are naming them all "Home" you would get the 2-3-4 suffix to diferentiate them.
