  1. Well I'm located in Sweden, not sure what a call to the US would cost me but it seems like submitting a ticket via the support form would be a bit more economical for me
  2. I already know how I can remove/modify the registry key, but what I don't know is what that will result in and if it's even related to the problem I have at all. Perhaps it's something else that's causing this that I'm missing, not sure what that can be though. I did however notice that if I disable the boot splash screen the main window don't always appear when ever I restart the computer, but most of the time it does. Will do some more testing and see what I can come up with, if that don't lead to anything I'll submit a ticket to support as you suggested, I guess this is the way to do that: https://www.eset.com/int/support/contact/ since I don't know of any in country support for ESET products.
  3. Yes I noticed the change, thus the question if the registry key I got there needed modifying or removal for this to stop happening or if I need to do something else. I've now reinstalled Windows 7 on 3 different computers, updated all their drivers and all the windows updates, as well as installed ESET Internet Security (EDIT: Version 11.0.159.9) on all of them, all 3 display similar behavior. On one computer it just happen once in a while, a bit random so to speak, but on the other 2 it happens every time I start the computer. I didn't have any issues before I reinstalled the OS, but with a fresh install of everything as well as a formatted drive I don't really know were I should start looking to fix this. Edit2: Had a look in Services and there I got ESET Service - Started - Automatic, apart from that I can't find anything apart from the registry, msconfig - startup, and the application it self at which ESET is mentioned or controlled.
  4. No, the splash screen appears and fade out just as normal, what appears is the main window, the one you get when you open ESET from the system tray, this screen: This is also what the user in the thread I linked had issues with, sure I can just manually close it by hitting the X in the top right corner, but still it shouldn't appear in the first place each and every time I start my computer. Apparently based on that thread you could fix this by modifying/removing the above mentioned registry key back then, is this also the case now?
  5. Hello, Recently reinstalled Windows 7 and thus reinstalled ESET Internet Security. Apart from the name change of the product a while back the process was just as normal, download the installer, install and put in the license key, wait for the first search and done. However I noticed that the main ESET screen popped up when ever I restarted the computer, the one you get when you open the product from the system tray and have to close down manually. Thought it would go away after a while, you know after I updated drivers, windows updates and so on, but nope. So I uninstalled and reinstalled the product, same issue. Then I googled a bit and found this: https://forum.eset.com/topic/8818-you-are-protected/ So after checking what was advised there I've checked my registry and yup egui is registered under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run egui - REG_SZ - "C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET Security\ecmds.exe" /launch /hide I'm not allowed to delete or modify this registry key, I guess I need to take ownership of the registry key and that way delete it? I've also checked MSCONFIG and that show the same thing, I can't disable it from here either, it just goes back to enabled as soon as I click Apply, I also downloaded CCleaner and tried to disable it from that just to check but same result. So is the solution to this to take ownership of the registry key and delete it, perhaps modify it, or what should I do to prevent having to close the main ESET Internet Security window each time I turn on my computer? Regards Richmon
  6. Hello, I've been a user of Eset Internet Security for a long time without any issues what so ever. However Dec 19th 2017 I started having issues with captchas from Cloudflare, the page I get tells me the following: What can I do to prevent this in the future? If you are on a personal connection, like at home, you can run an anti-virus scan on your device to make sure it is not infected with malware. If you are at an office or shared network, you can ask the network administrator to run a scan across the network looking for misconfigured or infected devices. Another way to prevent getting this page in the future is to use Privacy Pass. Check out the browser extension in the Chrome Store. Since I haven't changed my browsing habits, nor have I made any changes in terms of configurations I determined that the only logical explanation was that I had some kind of malware on some device, so I scanned them all with the at the time latest version of Eset Internet Security with no results. Just to be safe I reinstalled the operating systems on my computers and phones as well as my printer. I also contacted Cloudflare and white listed my self at Project Honey Pot (which didn't have any information regarding my IP), despite it being Christmas they solved it very quickly and didn't need to do the captcha challenge each time I visited a site they "protected". A week later it sadly returned and I also was contacted by a one of my customers which I've created and maintain a webpage for that asked me why their FaceBook page was filled with users asking why they had to fill in captcha to visit their site (note that this site have about 600.000 unique users per day). So once again I asked Cloudflare what was going on and got told that they detected "attack traffic" from me and I got the same reply regarding my customers page, apparently all those users that tired to visit the page was now submitting "attack traffic". I solved this for my customer by removing any association we had vist Cloudflare, however personally I've run into a problem since I can't switch IP due to my ISP not being able to perform that service and even if I did I have no idea what exactly I'm doing that they label as "attack traffic" so I would soon be blocked from accessing Cloudflare sites on the new IP anyhow. So naturally I've scanned the web for solutions, this took me to F-Secure's forum and this: Starting on December 19th, all Cloudflare hosted sites have started to require one or two CAPTCHA checks from anyone using F-Secure FREEDOME, regardless the virtual location used. Currently the root cause for these checks remains unknown, but this behavior is initiated from Cloudflare side, not from F-Secure. It may be that this is only because of the large number of users using Cloudflare hosted sites from F-Secure FREEDOME locations worldwide. F-Secure has already contacted Cloudflare and is working with them towards solving the issue as soon as possible. Meanwhile you can access the Cloudflare sites by completing the CAPTCHA checks presented. https://community.f-secure.com/t5/F-Secure/Cloudflare-Captchas-suddenly/td-p/103054 F-Secure Freedome is apparently a VPN, which is somewhat more understandable that you'd run into captcha issues with, but that got me thinking, do Eset Internet Security cause me to have these issue in any way, is there anything that it might do that Cloudflares (obviously faulty system) label as "attack traffic"? I've gone through the application more than I've done before and I haven't found anything obvious, but since I can't find any other reason behind this I must ask if Eset Internet Security in any way can cause this to happen and if so what I can do to avoid it. Regards Richmon
