  1. Indeed TGW. The benefit of letting the civil conversation continue was that Tweak Arena got the info they were looking for and I scored a little bit of info regarding Windows 8.1 Cheers.
  2. Description: ESS remember that I've entered my setting protection password for 'x' amount of time. Detail:I'd like future versions of ESS to remember that I've entered the password used to access password protected settings etc for a designated lenth of time rather than having the user constantly enter their password every time they wish to access a setting, delete a report etc.
  3. I'm genuinely happy that KIS 2014 is working as KL intended for you. As I posted, KIS had been a very solid product over the years but the last incident provided me with the impetus to change AV vendors and I'm extremely happy with ESS. Off topic: I'll be upgrading to Windows 8 once the .1 update is officially released. I bought a Pro licence a while ago when MS had an 'upgrade for $40' sale in January B) I've been running the beta version of ESS on the beta version of Windows 8.1 for some time and the combo is as smooth as silk. KIS 2014 didn't work with Windows 8.1 release until patch B. Cheers.
  4. Driver8, I'm in the same situation. As I mentioned in my introduction here, I had been a KIS user for 5 years and was reasonably happy with the product until this year. The long and short of my story with Kaspersky is they've dropped the ball twice on me this year; the first time a dud KIS 2013 update left me with a PC I couldn't log into (Windows 8) and just recently KIS 2014 (with patch B installed) decided to use 1 full CPU core after patch Tuesday and no amount of reboots fixed it. My KIS licence is still valid for 260 days - it's a 730 day licence - but I won't be returning to it anytime soon. ESS does the job I want it to and it's noticably lighter on system resources. Further, I'd rather Eset take their time and release something that works day one and they should be commended for it. Marketing departments seem to want new versions each year and I've experienced how wrong this can be first-hand. KIS 2014 shipped with a slew of known issues such as slow loading webpages, slow start-up upon log-in and remains, after patch B, the slowest loading AV software I've ever used. Unchecking the two concede resources checkboxes did nothing to speed up KIS 2014. I hope Tweak Arena find what he/she is looking for in KIS 2014 as sure I didn't. Kaspersky make great software, it's just a pity it takes many patches for them to get there. ESS works great and Eset should release version 7 when it's 100% happy with the beta version.
  5. I've been following the test results of anti-virus programs for some time now and the results go in cycles. Back when Nod32 was still in version 2, it was the 'best' AV based on various tests, then Kaspersky became the 'must have' AV followed by Avira, G-Data and currently it's Bit Defender getting praise for achieving very high test scores (apologies if I left any vendors out). Make of this what you will... There are several AV companies that remain near the top throughout the years and Eset is one such vendor. That is enough peace of mind for me. There is no AV will protect any PC 100% of the time; the only thing that can is the person using the keyboard and mouse.
  6. Thanks for the welcome messages B)
  7. Hi all, I've returned to Eset after first buying Nod32 back in the version 2.7 days. I changed to a well known Russian solution for a few years whilst dabbling with Eset products from time to time. The Russian product caused me serious grief twice this year so I'm back to the old favourite but in the form of ESS which I just bought a 3 year licence for. Loving the lightness and speed of ESS. How did you find the ESET Security Forum? - From Wilders Security Forum What OS are you running? - Windows 7 (I have a licence for Windows 8 Pro, waiting for the .1 update) What AV are you running? - I was running KIS 2014 (and KIS for about 5 years) until yesterday, ESS is protecting my PC now and for at least 3 years. What’s an interesting fact about you? - I bought my first Eset licence for Nod32 version 2 from (former?) Wilders Security Forums moderator and Eset reseller Blackspear. Cheers, Travis
