  1. Just upgraded fromm ESS ver 8 to ver 9 I expected the UI to look different - there are fashions to webpages and applications just like anything else. However, I didn't expect a decrease in user-friendliness. I can't resize/maximise the network connection window or the log file window, which renders them frustrating at best and at worst, useless compared to version 8. I don't see why this change has been made, given that the advanced setup screen can be resized and maximised. I use a desktop PC with a 21" monitor, and I don't want my experience to be constrained by software that thinks everyone uses a tablet or smartphone.
  2. Thanks for the replies and information. Thunderbird was upgraded from ver.24 to ver.31 I didn't realise ESS was incompatible with Thunderbird in that way - it seems odd for it not to work properly with a popular email client. Anyway, my ISP filters spam and viruses before releasing to my inbox, and I have that filtering configured to the strongest setting, so the fact that ESS doesn't do it isn't a major loss.
  3. Thunderbird just updated to version 31, and disabled the ESET Smart Security Extension 7.0.302.0, saying that it's incompatible with Thunderbird 31. However, my ESS installation is up-to-date. Is there a fix for this ?
  4. If power outages are a regular inconvenience where you live, perhaps it would be wise to invest in a basic UPS. This would avoid problems with data loss, and mitigate the risk of damage to your hardware.
  5. Have a look at this to see how some AV survey results are created https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjNG69AGagY
  6. I've just activated and tested the anti-theft feature and found it be alarmingly good - especially at pinpointing my location. However, when I login to the phantom account, although ESS isn't listed in the Programs listing from the Start menu, it is shown if using Windows Explorer. The phantom account also allows access to Control Panel, where ESS is visible, and presumably could be uninstalled ?
