persian-boy gave kudos to Kristal in Windows ESET products and Android threats
Can Windows versions of ESET products detect Android-targeted threats? So to scan APK file via Windows version of ESET products(ESET Nod32 Antivirus, ESET Internet Security, ESET Smart Security Premium) is the same like to scan it via ESET Mobile Security for Android or ESET Smart TV Security? In this case effectiveness of scanning is the same?

persian-boy gave kudos to itman in YEARS Of Eset Internet Security, will I have to move on? HELP APPRECIATED!
There is no direct correlation between Eset and Windows Updates. An exception would be for Win 7 where specific updates must be installed since Microsoft no longer supports SHA1.
This is not to say that some Win Update could bork Eset but the likelihood is extremely remote based on past history.
Most of the Eset new release issues arise due to some Win configuration on select devices. These are usually the result of either intended or non-intended user OS or app setting changes from default values.

persian-boy gave kudos to itman in Eset Uninstalled by itself
When making a statement like this, please provide details on what occured. If for no reason other than to determine if there is an on going issue with existing Eset protection methods.
Today's AV products are designed to prevent malware from being downloaded and installed on devices. Pertaining to malware that may have existed prior to AV installation, AV detection is limited in what it can detect. For example, you may have had a backdoor installed or some other stealthy hidden malware that is difficult to detect via signature or behavior methods.
When it comes to today's malware, the axiom, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" very much applies.

Hello @itman,
I asked our code signing guru what can be the issue, but he is currently out of office so the response might take time...

persian-boy gave kudos to itman in It's Back - Ecmds Code Integrity Error
Appears not be an issue anymore after I found some nasty hidden pagefile malware and cleared it out of there. The Event log entry hasn't appeared since then.
The question is what the malware was trying to do with ecmds.exe?

persian-boy gave kudos to itman in Python Question
Can Eset actually detect a Python script pre-execution if its packed and encrypted? Note that Win 10 AMSI does not scan Python scripts. -EDIT- also Python scripts "are famous" for running "sleeper" code designed to "wait out" heuristic scanning methods.
-
persian-boy gave kudos to itman in Python Question
Does Eset detect an executable created via PyBuilder in which the Python engine along with a script is bundled as a PUA? If not, it should.

persian-boy gave kudos to itman in Installed poweriso and eset is blocking websites
My question is why is this type of software attempting to connect to the Internet with the activity you posted? It is basically just software to create a .iso file for the most part. At most, the only outbound connection it would need is to the vendor's server for software updates.

persian-boy gave kudos to Marcos in ESET BETA 13 ?
We've recently made 12.1.30.0 available for users in the ESET Insider program.
Also it is not clear what you meant by " I miss the success of ESET 2002 - 2007". Please clarify as to what you meant because ESET is a successful company with products being enriched with new protection and technology features on a regular basis.

persian-boy gave kudos to itman in EFI/ COMPUTRACE
Do all the devices have UEFI? Older PCs don't and just have a BIOS.
-
persian-boy gave kudos to Tatiana in EFI/ COMPUTRACE
I understand that ESET can not eliminate detection of the EFI / COMPUTRACE threat because it depends solely on the manufacturer of the machine, BIOS update or Absolute Software.
The question is, Why on some machines does it detect it as a UEFI threat and on other machines it does not detect it even though it has it active? Could it be because ESET detected unusual connections or what other option could it be?

I am "dying of anticipation." Has "block at first sight" LiveGrid cloud scanning been added?

Most likely you've activated Anti-Theft and tested it or marked your machine as missing.

persian-boy gave kudos to Spacejanitor in Eset Internet Security: Modules Version (Rootkit Detector)
Hi!
I wanted to double check that the current module in use is the latest version for ESET Internet Security 12.0.31. Initially, it seemed strange that its 2 years out of date, but, that could be the case. Thought it would be safe to check with the team directly.
Thanks!

persian-boy gave kudos to Peter Randziak in Blue screen again
Hello @Chinese users,
the devs analyzed the dump and the conclusion is that version 12.1.23.0 should address this as it has PreCreate part refactored.
This version is so far available for ESET Insiders only, if you are being interested in participation and early access, please send me a private message with a reference to this topic.
Regards, P.R.

persian-boy gave kudos to Peter Randziak in Blue screen again
Hello @Chinese users,
thank you for providing us with the complete dump.
I used another unpacker to extract the dump and it seems O.K., that's weird.
I will pass the dump to be checked as I'm unable to analyze it to be able to find the root cause.
Can you please provide us a new dump to have a look?
Regards. P.R.

persian-boy gave kudos to JamesWilliam in Ekrn.exe - excessive CPU Time
I have a client, to whom I recommended ESET Internet Security. (One of many that I've recommended ESET to over the last 15 years.) This is perhaps the first time I've seen this, but I do find some other topics on this forum and elsewhere about it. On her computer, ekrn.exe is using anywhere from 50% to 75% CPU time, as far as I've seen so far. It does slow her computer down to a crawl at times. I need a solution to this, or I will have to find a substitute for this client.
I've been unable to determine what ekrn.exe is doing to need so much CPU time: It's not doing a lot of disk access; it's using about 166 MB of RAM, about normal in my experience. It seems to run around 40 threads.
Need some input here.

Hi,
Enable parental control --> block the uncategorized website (for having robust web filtering)then open a website that has now category so Eset block it but you may want to allow this URL fast.
It Would be good if Eset provides an option to unblock websites by password from the browser(or from the parental control log), not Eset parental control settings. its easier to manage,
Also, Eset hips show the loaded drivers but it doesn't show the digital signature for them.I like to see the signature.
