  1. Some years ago I tried to get ESET's password manager to work and couldn't and initially went with LastPass. I ditched it following a data breach and the move to only offer the free product to one device. Now with Bitwarden and it's excellent. NB. I haven't recently tried to get ESET's offering working.
  2. The installation hung twice with a message that I can't recall. It was a single word such as 'Progressing' or 'Processing.' On rebooting after the second instance of hanging (I waited for around 15 minutes) ESET showed as v14.2.23.0 though there we several settings that hadn't bee read across from the previous installation.
  3. I use the firewall in Interactive Mode which is not the default but I haven't seen any crashes to this point.
  4. Yesterday I was unable to update to 14..2.23 via selecting 'Check for Updates' within the programme. I went to the website to download and install the latest version which didn't go at all smoothly. Interesting that you've now pulled v14.2.23 but outwith this thread there's no information and no advice if you have already installed v14.2.23. For key security software this is simply not good enough.
  5. Good morning, I have a weekly scan scheduled that begins at 01:00 on Saturday morning and used to take approximately an hour. in the last month or so I've noticed now twice that scans sometimes take an excessive amount of time e.g. today's has taken 10:41:50. I have attached a dump.
  6. I have been investigating issues with slow browsing using Chrome and MS (Chr)Edge primarily. I see messages such as: Resolving Host Waiting for 'www.example.com' Establishing Secure Connection There's a lot of discussion of similar issues on the Malwarebytes forums with no common denominator or solution at this time. As the only other security software I have on my computer is ESET I decided to have an investigation to see if anything I did improved the situation. It's only been a few hours but since going to: Setup | Advanced Setup | Web access protection | WEB PROTOCOLS and switching off 'Enable HTTP protocol checking' and 'Enable HTTPS checking' these issues have disappeared and browsing has not resulted in any of the messages being seen for more than a fraction of a second and the speed of rendering new pages/sites is extremely rapid. Clearly having these items disabled is far from ideal so I'd be grateful if you could look into this and advise on a way forward. Happy to provide logs and work with ESET staff to further investigate but it will have to be after 5pm UK time. The issue is not with my internet connection. I'm currently undertaking an online course using WebEx and have maintained a very good connection throughout from Monday morning until now.
  7. I've just rolled back a machine from Windows 10 v2004 to v1909 and was greeted on reboot with two ESET alerts: Detection Engine out of date ESET LiveGrid is not accessible Nothing I do updates them so I came here to read this thread. I can only assume that the servers are down. I'm in the UK.
  8. Marcos. ESET v12.0.27 very definitely DOES NOT address the annoyance of these webcam related messages. It's only slightly different to previously posted i.e. I now receive a message every time Windows boots, the first time the webcam software opens and the first time I use Skype after every reboot. You always receive a message that webcam access for (insert software name) was allowed. This despite having previously selected to remember the rule for that particular software. I don't receive the messages on subsequent uses of the various applications within the same boot of Windows.
  9. Your first three posts made no mention of the changelog; they didn't even hint at it. Comments like 'there are no great innovations' and 'Well, I'm not thrilled' add nothing. So, I ask again: what shortfalls do you believe ESET has and what 'great innovations' do you want to see? Aryeh Goretsky has stated in another thread: 'A lot of the changes in ESET V12 are either "under the hood" (e.g., not visible from within the GUI) or are refinements of the existing feature set.'
  10. Many thanks. The 'Advanced Options' don't appear when I manually navigate via https://www.eset.com/uk/home/smart-security-premium/download/ Clearly I should just ignore any UK region pages.
  11. How do you download the full installation file? Previously this was an option but it seems to have disappeared.
  12. I have just had another 'File corrupted' notification which occur quite frequently. I clicked on 'Check for Updates' and after a couple of minutes got the messages shown in the image. Any ideas?
  13. Marcos's solution works aside from the notification at boot that I still receive. I have Skype start (minimised) with Windows and it is a notification that Skype has been allowed access that I receive at boot up. ETA: My statement above was not correct. I am now receiving notifications whenever the webcam is accessed by either Skype or the Logitech software, (and at boot up from Skype).
  14. Hi Marcos, many thanks for the suggestion. That appears to have worked though I’ve not yet looked in detail at what that change in Windows settings really means and what implications it may have.
  15. The notification appears at boot and anytime the webcam is accessed by any program i.e. the Logitech software and Skype in my case. To my mind if the webcam is accessed by a program that has been granted permission and a rule created reflecting this, then the notification shouldn't be shown. It's not a big deal but is annoying.
  16. As far as I can see there's no facility to manually add a rule to the Webcam Protection. I only use Skype for Desktop and the executable is C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Skype for Desktop\Skype.exe (I have deleted the second Skype rule). The Logitech executable is C:\Program Files (x86)\Logitech\LWS\Webcam Software\Launcher_Main.exe
  17. To be clear, I have setup 3 rules permitting webcam access: 2 for Skype and 1 for the Logitech software - it's a Logitech HD webcam. Regardless of the rules, I receive an alert on every boot. At this point I choose to live with it rather than disabling Webcam Notifications but it needs correcting.
  18. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (1803) Since the update to v11.2.63.0 everytime I boot my computer I receive a message stating that access was granted to my webcam; I know, I granted it! Is there a way to stop the notifications?
  19. HI Marcos. The only Firewall in use is ESET's and I'm not using a proxy. I'm no network engineer and have not used Wireshark previously so am no expert though generally tech savvy. The problem here is that I cannot predict when you will release a module update and further cannot predict when it will be available to, and downloaded by, my computer. As I stated originally, manual updates always work.
  20. For several weeks now, whenever a module update is pushed out I receive an error message stating: 'Modules update failed. File corrupted.' (See screenshot below). If I then manually click on 'Check for updates,' the module update always works first time. Any idea how to resolve this? Many thanks in advance.
  21. I totally get that the program is written in American English and it's probably your largest market. The USA uses the ENGLISH language; yes, it's been changed slightly over the years but it's still ENGLISH. The flag that identifies the language is the UK's Union flag (it could be argued that it should be the English flag but let's not confuse the issue). I suppose I should be flattered as an Englishman I can work out that the US flag is being used and ESET believes that it must use an erroneous identifying flag to assist the Americans in identifying the appropriate language (with apologies to US citizens here).
  22. Indeed it is but it didn't originate in the USA. It's called English and originated as it stands in the UK. See the points re Spanish and Portuguese etc. Population size doesn't cut it as an argument: Brazil has a population of 202M against Portugal's 10M. Mexico has a population of 127M against Spain's 46M.
  23. I have manually updated one of my machines to ESET Smart Security Premium v11.1.42.0. On installation the option to select the language is offered. English is identified with a US flag and (as a UK resident) I find this annoying and insulting; Spanish isn't shown with a Mexican flag or Portuguese with a Brazilian flag. Please respect the identity and origins of the English language and use the UK Union flag.
