  1. There's a link on the ESS main screen for something called Cybersecurity Training. On a whim, I clicked on it, but while it opens IE, nothing happens after that. It's as if it loads a blank page. When I open the source using Ctrl-U, it shows a bunch of Javascript and no real HTML. This screen capture shows what I see: hxxp://screencast.com/t/1195gOULwq
  2. Thanks for the tip. At first ESET would not install. I read on another thread here in the forum that Eset 9 only works on build 10074, so I switched to the slow build channel. That is the one that it updated to, and has not updated since. ESET installed correctly with 10074 installed, and I haven't had a new version installed. I just switched to fast channel and it's downloading 10130 now.
  3. Using Windows 10 preview build 10074 here with ESS 9.0.111.0. When the computer starts, everything looks fine, but I notice in tray that ESET has little red triangle. When I open ESET, I see Is this a known problem or do I really need to reinstall? I've only just installed it.
  4. Thanks for the response. That's what I want to know: how do I go through the MS KBs to see if a particular file was updated in it? When I go to the KB article and the security update that's related, I don't see a description of what files are updated when it is installed. So in the future, if ESS prompts me, I want to be able to make an informed decision, instead of always clicking Deny. I mean, if it happens right after I install an MS update, I'm pretty sure that's what caused it. If it happens two weeks afterwards, I have no idea if that file was legitimately updated recently or is the victim of a zero-day. I think the fact that Deny was grayed out here is probably just a fluke.
  5. Using ESS 7 under Windows 8.1. Got pop-up today saying that Windows SQM Consolidator has changed "During communication, a change was detected in the application." and "Recommended action: Deny". Unfortunately, the Deny button is inactive. I'm thinking this was perhaps legitimately changed by a recent MS update, but how can I tell when Microsoft has actually recently updated? The file in question is wsqmcons.exe MD5 4b8899882458d96fdd8677d49bd0c5b0 dated 10/28/2014, but a hover over file indicates version 6.3.9600.17415 created 11/19/2014. I wonder if this is related to MS14-068 see https://technet.microsoft.com/library/security/ms14-068 How do I know if this file was intentionally updated by Microsoft during this patch? See screenshot attached. I'm thinking I may have to reboot to get rid of the window since there is no way to close it other than to click Allow.
  6. I got no such warning, but later in the day, it started working. I made no changes and was never prompted. It just started working again. I suspect it has something to do with the Chrome update, but it is not clear. I will do as Marcos suggested and add it to the list of exclusions for modification protection.
  7. Using ESET ESS 7x on Windows 8.1. Suddenly this morning, Chrome no longer works when the ESET firewall is turned on. I'm currently in interactive mode because I've had some problems with ESET quietly blocking things I don't want, but Chrome has been working fine recently. Only this morning it started getting blocked. When I turn off the firewall, Chrome works fine. See attached image of current settings. How do I get it to work?
  8. ESET never did call me back. Very disappointing as I've always gotten good phone support from them in the past. When I called them back this afternoon, I did not use the callback option, and just waited a minute or so to get someone. It turns out that the issue was that I have purchased another license using the same email address through a reseller. Even though this one that I'm renewing was not purchased through that reseller, that reseller apparently has commandeered all renewals related to the email address. Seems like a bad system to me. A) Buy 1 license for xyzzy@example.com through ESET store. B) Buy 1 license for xyzzy@example.com through ESET store. C) Buy 1 license for xyzzy@example.com through reseller. Cannot renew license "A" because reseller now controls all your renewals. That stinks.
  9. They must be busy over there catching up with weekend messages. Left a message right as they opened, taking advantage of their call-back feature, and it's been a couple of hours. I'm glad I left my cell number as well, as I'll be heading off to lunch soon and would be upset if they called while I was away.
  10. Kid's computer license for ESS has expired as of yesterday. I go to eset.com/renew and put in username and email address, and it reports, "The renewal period for this license has expired. You will need to purchase a new license in order to continue protection with ESET." Huh, the web page clearly says I can renew 90 days before and 60 days after. I double-checked and it says that it expired on 7/13/2013. I even went to Help and Support and used "Verify Licence Validity" and it says "License was valid until 7/13/2013." What gives?
