  1. Yes, you read it correctly. Let's hope that it's not a permament feature.
  2. IIRC, v8 relied solely on a kernel driver for the HIPS functionality. The only user mode injections were into supported email clients. If v9 is indeed also using a user mode DLL, that would definitely add granularity and significantly harden the HIPS. BTW, I always liked the GUI style used by Online Armour for both Firewall and HIPS. It was far more user friendly than ESET's implementation.
  3. The easiest solution would be if you can use a friend's computer. The drivers for your HP Intel 7260/3160 Wireless LAN Driver (64 bit) - hxxp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp69001-69500/sp69021.exe
  4. Is this PC a name brand if so what brand and model number. If not, just download and install drivers from hxxp://ark.intel.com/products/75439/Intel-Dual-Band-Wireless-AC-7260#@downloads I gather that you have access to another computer, so if you have a USB flash drive, download the drivers installation package and transfer the installer via the flash drive.
  5. You may need to reinstall the wireless drivers. Have a look in device manager (Windows key + R to bring up the run box and enter devmgmt.msc) and see if your wireless card listing has a yellow exclamation mark.
  6. Apart from the manual uninstall, did you also run the uninstall tool relevant to McAfee or Norton? McAfee - hxxp://us.mcafee.com/apps/supporttools/mcpr/mcpr.asp Norton/Symantec - ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe
  7. I just downloaded Acronis and ESS didn't blink. What browser were you using?
  8. https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ru&u=https://www.esetnod32.ru/home/products/titan/ Look under key features.
  9. As there's no english version released and in my eagerness to use v9 final, I decided to take the opportunity to learn a new language and subsequently installed the german version. Ja ja so gut! I think I'll try the Slovak version tomorrow.
  10. Win7 x64 Pro I eventually get the tray icon after a 20-30 second wait. I've returned to v8 until bugs like repairing ESS don't result in a corrupted installation - invalid rules, components that can't be started etc
  11. @beancounter I had no problem renewing at https://au.store.eset.com/renewal. If I had to choose anything else, I would use notepad because of its low false positive detections.
  12. konukca, Follow JavierSeguraNA's directions in the following post: https://forum.eset.com/topic/250-eset-has-blocked-my-site-what-to-do/#entry837
  13. As in KMSPico, the MS Windows and Office activator that is usually bundled with PUAs? Is your Windows installation genuine?
  14. If you've got a nvidia gfx card, try disabling hardware acceleration in FF Options for the freezing issue.
  15. Try the solution for 'Windows Security Center is not detecting my Windows ESET product' from the ESET Knowledgebase. hxxp://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN217
  16. As a work around until it finally does get fixed (yes, it's been reported many times): Open the GUI and adjust the size and screen position to your liking. Hold down the 'Shift' key and press the red 'x' at the top RHS to exit the GUI. Your preferred size and position should now be saved.
  17. Just Google: sourceforge bundling adware - end of story.
  18. The URL needs to be unlinked. It's serving up a PWS Fareit variant.
  19. As shown in the original SysInspector log, the malware that ESET removed had hijacked the WMI service. Hence, there was no hit or miss about the Winmgmt registry entry needing to be repaired. @techinstructor, I'm pleased we could help.
  20. The reason it can't find the file, if you refer to https://forum.eset.com/topic/1365-win32kryptikbojt-trojan-variant-found/#entry7652 is that the service is looking for c:\progra~3\etfq4h.pss. So repairing the registry entry should work.
  21. Seeing as that Trojan hijacked the WMI service, it's likely that the Winmgmt (WMI) service information in the registry just needs to be repaired. Open Notepad, then copy/paste the complete content of the following code box. Then select File > 'Save as...' Save as type: All Files (*.*) File name: Fix_Winmgmt.reg Select a convenient place like Desktop or My Documents. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\Winmgmt] "DisplayName"="@%Systemroot%\\system32\\wbem\\wmisvc.dll,-205" "ImagePath"=hex(2):25,00,73,00,79,00,73,00,74,00,65,00,6d,00,72,00,6f,00,6f,00,\ 74,00,25,00,5c,00,73,00,79,00,73,00,74,00,65,00,6d,00,33,00,32,00,5c,00,73,\ 00,76,00,63,00,68,00,6f,00,73,00,74,00,2e,00,65,00,78,00,65,00,20,00,2d,00,\ 6b,00,20,00,6e,00,65,00,74,00,73,00,76,00,63,00,73,00,00,00 "Description"="@%Systemroot%\\system32\\wbem\\wmisvc.dll,-204" "ObjectName"="localSystem" "ErrorControl"=dword:00000000 "Start"=dword:00000002 "Type"=dword:00000020 "DependOnService"=hex(7):52,00,50,00,43,00,53,00,53,00,00,00,00,00 "ServiceSidType"=dword:00000001 "FailureActions"=hex:80,51,01,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,03,00,00,00,14,00,00,\ 00,01,00,00,00,c0,d4,01,00,01,00,00,00,e0,93,04,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\Winmgmt\Parameters] "ServiceDllUnloadOnStop"=dword:00000001 "ServiceDll"=hex(2):25,00,53,00,79,00,73,00,74,00,65,00,6d,00,52,00,6f,00,6f,\ 00,74,00,25,00,5c,00,73,00,79,00,73,00,74,00,65,00,6d,00,33,00,32,00,5c,00,\ 77,00,62,00,65,00,6d,00,5c,00,57,00,4d,00,49,00,73,00,76,00,63,00,2e,00,64,\ 00,6c,00,6c,00,00,00 "ServiceMain"="ServiceMain" Double click on Fix_Winmgmt.reg and allow it to merge with the registry. (I assume you're running from an admin account). If it successfully merges, reboot your PC. Let me know how things go.
