  1. Hello, I can verify ESS is reporting the windows version incorrectly. I have same results as pavilion_alex.
  2. Hello, Possible.. I also noticed that there is now a prerelease update option implying the use of modules. I wonder if there is a detailed changelog available somewhere that I have missed...
  3. Hello, A couple of observations... The amount of files scanned with the deep scan selected has changed drastically. Version 2 would scan 25,000 to 26,000 files while version 3 is only scanning 1600 to 1700 files. What is the reason for this difference? Is this a bug? Virus Radar reports VSD's in the format x.xxxx (from version 2) while the VSD's in version 3 are in xxxx format. The two formats are not similar at all. I will assume that Virus Radar will be updated to reflect this new format so we may continue to follow the updates... Example: Current android version on Virus Radar is 3.1401 while showing on the version 3 beta app is 4396. I totally love the new anti-theft, very nice indeed. Great beta and good work ESET!
  4. Hello, It is a very good thing when a software vendor actually listens and incorporates into its product the features that their user-base wants. There were like four items that I have commented on here at the forums that I thought would greatly improve EMS and all of them has made it into the version 3 beta. Good work ESET and thanks!
  5. Hello all, Great news as I see version 3 beta now available!! Complete with the long waited for Web Console!!! Information available on Google+: https://plus.google.com/communities/108903191448653159178 Working great here so far!!! More information: ESET Releases Next Generation ESET Mobile Security BETA With Anti-Theft Control Via Web ESET Mobile Security for Android Beta Edit to add note to mods: I was not sure whether to make this post here or in the beta products forum. Please feel free to move it if you think it would be more appropriate elsewhere. Thanks!
  6. Hello all, Great news as I see version 3 beta now available!! Information available on Google+: https://plus.google.com/communities/108903191448653159178 Working great here so far!!!
  7. Hello Dan, Welcome too the forum! I too am a little late to welcome you here... I use Opera as my main browser but do occasionally use IE11. I do use IE Smartscreen Filter when I run IE11 and never have experienced any issues using it with ESET. I initially used Enhanced Protected Mode and never had any issues with it and ESET either. However, a couple of my IE add-ons that I like to use are not compatible with EPM, so I did end up disabling it. My advice would be to run both smartscreen and EPM, as long as any add-ons that you use have no issue with EPM. You should see no conflict with ESET whatsoever. Again welcome!!!
  8. Hello, Definitely no ideal way, The big drawback in the automatic method in post 3 is it runs the missed scan after a reboot, which many do not want (including myself). SweX's manual method in post 4 is good. I find myself just doing a manual scan after the scheduled one is missed if I think it is necessary...
  9. Hello, SweX is correct in that ESS/EAV does not wake your computer from sleep in order to do a scheduled scan. The best you can do to keep from missing a scan is to edit your scheduled scan via the scheduler and check the option to run the scan as soon as possible if missed. What this will do is when a scan is missed, it will run following the next reboot of your system. I know this is not ideal but it is the only option at the moment for managing missed scans if you want them to run...
  10. Hello, mantra, Have you installed or used any VPN services? More than likely the TAP adapters are related to that...
  11. Hello, There is no direct monthly scan option. See this thread for a possible work-around. https://forum.eset.com/topic/403-scheduled-on-demand-scans/ HTH...
  12. Hello, It should work. You can have a 64 bit system and be using the 64 bit version of ESS/EAV, but you MUST use the 32 bit offline MSI installer file to create your SysRescue. Let us know how it goes...
  13. Hello, You need to have the MSI file that you installed ESS/EAV with on your system. If you are on a 64 bit system, you must use the 32 bit MSI installer version. If you deleted it after you originally installed ESS/EAV, then you can download it again. In the screen shots above, you will need to point it to that MSI installer's location on your system, then it should work. For example, be sure you have the 32 bit MSI file downloaded somewhere on your system. From the first screenshot above, change the check box under "ESS/EAV files location:" to "MSI file:", browse to that location and select the MSI file. It should now work. Usually when it has the MSI option clicked checked and you cannot change it, you are on a 64 bit system with 64 bit ESS/EAV but you must use the 32 bit in order to create the SysRescue. HTH... Please also note that the MSI installer file that you use must not only be 32 bir, but it must be the offline version too (NOT the online version).
  14. Hello, It would be great if you were able to not just activate a new license from the GUI as you can mow but also be able to add a new activation code to your existing license from within the GUI in order to extend your subscription. Several vendor have this feature or a feature where you can manage your licenses on the web. Just one example would be Bitdefender where as you add another license it adds it to your current subscription. For myself at least, If I am activating another license from within the GUI, it would be to extend my subscription, not start a new one. Over a the years , I have seen many have to contact support because they had renewed early and lost time on their subscription. The logical way (for me at least) would be it checked and if you had an active license it added to it and then if not, of course it would just start a new subscription. Also, maybe just on the web, where you check the social media scanner and anti-theft, you could have the ability to manage your licenses and combine it you wish. Other vendors do ir quite successfully and this would be a good improvement and convenience for your customers. It also should help with support issues when someone renews too early and loses time on their subscription. Thanks for considering this idea...
  15. Hello Janus, Thanks for confirming. This is what I thought but it had been a couple of major versions ago since I had inquires and wanted to do this. I just wanted to be sure it had not changed. I appreciate the reply..
  16. Hello, This may have been asked before but I could not find an answer by doing a forum search. My current license still has several months left on it. I just purchased a renewal/extension via a boxed set, so I have a new activation code. If I activate it, does it add to my current activated license? If not, is there a way to add it or must I wait until my current license expires before I use the new activation code? I just want to be sure I do not make a mistake and end up with two licenses running concurrently instead of extending the current one. If my memory serves me, you could not do this in the past, but I wanted to inquire if anything has changed and if this indeed is possible now. Thanks in advance... Note: If the above is not possible, I think it would be a very good feature to implement sometime in the future as many security vendors already have this option...
  17. Hello, First, thank you to Marcos for his suggestion in the above post. His suggestion pointed in in the direction that I needed to go. I have two zones, one for my ethernet and one for my VPN. For each zone I created its own profile and I have ESS set to switch automatically to the correct profile when the zone changes. In my ethernet zone profile, I added 3 rules, a block all rule for all applications, an allow rule for my VPN client to connect to their login server, and a rule for OpenVPN to allow the VPN tunnel. When I boot my system everything is blocked except the two connections needed to start my VPN tunnel. Once my tunnel starts, the zone is automatically changed to VPN which in turn loads that profile. That profile does not have the 3 rules that I added above to the ethernet zone profile. This allows the ESS firewall to perform normally while in the tunnel. The only thing I lack now is the blocking of traffic if my VPN connection drops, but my VPN client is adding that feature within the next two weeks. Once this is added, my setup will be what I want. Thanks for your post Marcos as it definitely helped me solve my setup.
  18. Hello, Since I have not received any replies to my post, let me ask it a bit differently. I have now set up a separate zone which loads another profile for my VPN. Is there some way to create a rule in this profile that only allows traffic within my VPN tunnel so that if any app tries to connect outside the tunnel it will be blocked? With this zone setup, if for some reason it resets to the default zone, I am notified by ESS. That is good enough for me as long as I can figure out a rule for my VPN zone/profile that will only allow traffic through the tunnel. I am not having any luck in creating a rule that works as I am not the best with firewalls i.e. ESS firewall. Any help will be greatly appreciated! Surely someone here is knowledgeable enough to help me and let me know if this can be done or not...
  19. Hello, My suggestion is about the "Events" section under "Tools > Log files". Always any VSD update is logged. Currently only module updates are logged if they occurred at a time when only a module update happens with no VSD update. I would like to always see in the event logs an item every time a module is updated. This would alert the user and negate having to always bring up the "About" screen to check all of the dates of each individual module to see if an update has occurred. I believe this would both be very beneficial to the user and simplify things for him/her. An option under "Advanced setup" whether to display this or not would be good or you could have this displayed by default. I think an option under "Advanced setup" would be the best answer. Thanks for considering this.
  20. Hello, I just got a new mobile and it has an app called Motorola Connect that allows a Chrome browser to communicate with your phone real time via an extension to retrieve phone status, calls, sms/text, etc. As long as SSL protocol filtering is turned off, it works perfectly. No problem with firewall, HIPS, or IDS. Enabling SSL protocol filtering (set to "Always scan SSL protocol") breaks the connection between the browser and phone. I have tried setting it to "Ask about non-visited sites" in order to see if I got a prompt so I could make an exclusion, but no prompts are generated and the connection remains broken. This leaves me with two options, do not use the extension, or turn off SSL protocol filtering permanently. I would very much like to use both. Any ideas? Thanks in advance...
  21. Hello, I need to set a rule to block all IP addresses except those that fall within a specific range. I want to do this to keep anything from leaking from my VPN. For example: Allow IP's only in range 1.1.1.1 - 2.2.2.2 (network source rule for TAP adapter) Block all other IP addresses Applies to all applications Direction: outgoing Protocols: TCP and UDP All ports Is there a way to do this? I know, for instance, that Comodo has a "block except" option for the IP range that ESET does not have, I am sure it can be done in ESET but I am not the best in configuring the firewall. Any help will be appreciated.
  22. Hello, It seems updates are working again...
  23. Hello, Thanks for the reply and confirmation...
  24. Hello, Is anyone else besides myself having update issues with EMS for Android? I am stuck on version 3.1349 dated January 9, 2014. EMS has been telling me I am up-to-date ever since (as of this post virus radar states 3.1354 is the current version). I have tried doing an uninstall and reinstalling but that did not help...
  25. Hello Ester, What I posted above refers to the Home version of EMS for Android as it has a free and paid version. If you are using the Business version of Endpoint Security for Android, as far as I know there is no free version available for this... (Note: I should have paid more attention to the fact that I was posting in the business section of the forum - not the home section - Sorry...)
