  1. Hello timse201, The ESET beta program (for ESET Internet Security and ESET Anti-Virus) and the ESET Insider Program are two different things. I am registered at the centercode site for the ESET Beta Program and have never received an email announcement concerning new builds or new changelogs for either EIS or EAV. Also there is nothing about them on the centercode beta site. If what you are posting above comes from the Insiders program, I believe that there is supposed to be a non-disclosure agreement about the information there and you would be in violation of that posting what you did.
  2. Hello, I know that it is quite possible that I will not receive a direct answer for this question, but I thought I would ask anyways as I have seen this brought up on other forums. With previous years beta testing, new version information and changelogs were announced on the ESET website, the beta portal, and here on the forums, usually along with a new installer. This year, however, it has been very quiet. It has been mentioned here on the forums that a new version would be available soon, but no "official" announcements or changelogs have been provided. The ESET website and the beta portal still point to the original 10.0.106.0 version along with a changelog for that same version. I understand the reason for no new installers is probably due to the fact that you want the internal update function to be thoroughly tested to be sure of no issues/bugs, but why no new version announcements along with a new changelog? It would be nice to know what issues/bugs have been fixed and what known issues still exist, if any. Even on the beta portal, the known issue list has not been updated since the initial beta release. Just my two cents worth as I think we all could benefit from having "official" announcements of new versions along with a changelog and with the information of whether a new installer was available or the update had to be done via the products internal updater....
  3. Hello, I would just like to add that manually launching the GUI with "run as admin" and then doing the upgrade worked fine on my install of ESET Internet Security as I now have version 1.0.169.0. Thanks to Phoenix for the tip and to xxJackxx for the solution...
  4. Hello, I have been advised via the internal updater that an upgrade to version 10.0.169.0 is available for ESET Internet Security 10.0.106.0. I click for it to install but it just sits there in an endless loop doing nothing (no files are being downloaded or anything else is happening). I have the option to cancel the update, which if I do and then try to install again, the same issue occurs with the install just sitting there with nothing happening. On the Centercode site, there is no mention of version 10.0.169.0 and only version 10.0.106.0 is available for download (so a manual install "over the top" is not possible). The link in the beta announcement post also only shows version 10.0.106.0 and no mention of 10.0.169.0. Is this a legitimate upgrade, and if so, when will the installer be available for download since the in product upgrade seems not to be working?
  5. Hello Marcos, It happens with both manual and automatic pre-release updates. I have not done any manual updates at all today and here are the logs:
  6. Hello PolandString, Thanks for the confirmation that you are seeing the same issue as I am ...
  7. Hello, I am seeing the modules updating on every update (whether scheduled or done manually). I am seeing both the windows notification and an event in the log stating that the modules have been updated. This started yesterday morning. See the attached logs: Viewing the "About ESET Smart Security" info, it can be verified that the modules are not being updated that often. Current modules are: I am using ESS version 9.0.349.14 (with pre-release updates) on a Windows 10 Pro version 1511 (OS Build 10586.104). Clearing the update cache followed by a reboot does not help. I can switch back to regular updates and the issue disappears but once I go back to the pre-release updates, the looping/never-ending module update issue comes back. It is 100% reproducible on my system and definitely only happens with pre-release updates and not regular updates. Any ideas, like maybe a bad pre-release module maybe causing this?
  8. Hello foneil, Thanks for the reply and detailed answer. I was aware of how the licensing had worked in the past. I was just hoping that with the new licensing system it was now possible to add a new license to an existing one and merge the remaining days of the two together. Thanks for verifying that this is still not possible with ESET products.
  9. Hello, I am asking this question about the new licensing system in version 9. My ESS notified me today that my license will expire in 14 days. I know that in all versions of ESS prior to version 9 activating a new license would result in losing whatever remaining days that were left on the old license and start the new license period from that day forward. I know that changes were made in the licensing system so is this still the case? If I activate a new license with 14 days remaining on the old one, will my new license period be 379 (365+14) days or 365 days? I really hope the new system will add the old and new together so I do not have to deal with seeing the messages about my license expiring for 14 days. It would be very nice if this is one of the changes that were made but I do not want to lose 14 days so I am asking first before I activate a new license. Almost all other software have the ability to activate a new license and have your days remaining merge into the new license.
  10. Hello xxJackxx, You are most welcome ! Let us know how it goes...
  11. Hello xxJackxx, In answers to your questions... 1. Since with each major version release the trial period is reset, you should have no issues trialing version 9 as long as you have not trialed the release version before. 2. I am on a Windows 10 Pro 64 bit system. There are only two issues that I have had. First, when browsing https sites (SSL), I get a rare SSL connection error (happens only a couple of times a day at most). A refresh of the page always fixes it. Since this happens so rarely, I consider it a very minor issue. Second, if you use any other security software that provides keystroke encryption, it will prevent ESET's Banking & Payment Protection browser from launching. See this post: Cannot use Banking Protection in ESS v.9. Also note that with the first issue, new modules are constantly being released which continues to lessen the issue. With the second issue, ESET's B&PP provides keystroke protection which is the reason for the issue with other security apps that also provide keystroke encryption. Marcos said the issue was being looked into but could not guarantee that ESET could fix it due to the protection that B&PP provides. It may have to fall on the other software vendors to provide a workaround. 3. As to your uninstall issues, I have found that if before you try to uninstall you go into "Advanced setup > ANTIVIRUS > HIPS" and disable the first four items (HIPS, Self-Defense, Advanced Memory Scanner, and Exploit Blocker), followed by clicking "OK" and a reboot, will allow you to uninstall. I have found that it seems that something to do with HIPS (probably Self-Defense) interferes on some machines when doing an uninstall. 4. IMHO, the final not only runs similar to the beta but significantly better as many improvements have been made. HTH...
  12. Hello, I agree with SweX. It may also be a good thing to post a pinned thread about this as it could prove helpful in lowering the numbers of posts being asked about it here on the forums.
  13. Hello jadinolf, Here is the closest thing to an approximate release date in this post. HTH...
  14. Hello Marcos, PM sent... Please keep me updated on this issue. I have a lot of customers that use the above mentioned security apps. As the ESET version 9 betas move closer to release, I will have to be helping my customers make a decision in their set-ups if they want to use B&PP in the new ESET versions along with these apps. Thanks for your help.
  15. Hello, This is a follow-up to what I have observed and reported to the beta portal during the first week after the version 9 betas were released. For the record, I have never received any replies to any issues that I have reported on the beta portal. From what I have observed in my testing, this issue with ESET's Banking & Payment Protection not starting seems to manifest itself when running any app that does keystroke encryption. The following apps that I have used (all provide keyboard encryption) while using the version 9 betas prevent ESET's Banking & Payment Protection from starting: HitmanPro.Alert SpyShelter KeyScrambler Zemana AntiLogger Two apps that are very similar to the above apps but do not have keystroke encryption and does work with ESET's Banking & Payment Protection: Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit (EMET) From my observations and testing, it seems that the keystroke encryption in any other security app that you may use is what prevents ESET's Banking & Payment Protection from starting. You may want to look in this area for conflicts. HTH...
  16. Hello MMx, I just got Internet Protection Module 1206B. Time to give it a test spin. Thanks!
  17. Hello SweX, Thanks for your reply and confirmation ... I just wondered because a member of ESET staff (MMx) seemed to state 1206B was already on pre-release servers ... Thanks again !
  18. Hello, I have the same issue with HTTPS scanning (along with non-loading pages) that is occasional and random in nature. Usually refreshing the page a few times allows both login and/or loading of the page. I have reported this via the beta portal (along with several other issues) and have not received any reply. I see you mention this issue is fixed with the pre-release version of the Internet Protection Module (1206B). However on my system, I do have pre-release updates enabled but my Internet Protection Module is version 1204B. Any idea why I am not getting 1206B? Is this module OS specific (in which case I am on a fully updated/patched Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit system)? I am asking this trying to determine if I have the latest module and if not, why...
  19. Hello, I am seeing a discrepancy in the version stated in the properties of the installer and the actual installed version. The installer states it is 9.0.114.0 while the actual installed version is 9.0.111.0... Is the correct version 9.0.111.0 and the installer just shows the incorrect version?
  20. Hello cutting_edgetech, Those log entries are from the default rules and the self-defense modules of HIPS. They are normal and nothing to worry about. In fact, with the default settings in HIPS, you should not be seeing those log entries. You should only see them if you have enabled the "Log all blocked operations" for the HIPS module (Advanced setup > Computer > HIPS > Advanced setup > Log all blocked operations). HTH...
  21. Hello, I tried the "Live CD" on Windows 10 TP and it has the same limitations as listed for other OS in my previous post "cannot clean threats detected during scanning", so the "Live CD" is not fully compatible for Windows 10 either. I had assumed that the "Live CD" would not work with Windows 10 since it did not with 8/8.1, hence why I tried the WinPE version of SysRescue first. I decided I best test that assumption. Like I said in my original post, I am not criticizing, just posting my observations on Windows 10 for the record as I do not expect Windows 10 to be fully compatible with ESET since it has not been released yet and is not officially supported by ESET...
